It runs from the camera in the tailgate to the screen in the rear view mirror you can find the cable between there, in my tundra I tapped into it at the mirror so I could leave the cord and all the plugs in tact for returning it to stock later.

I'm in the middle of the same problem. Has anyone successfully paired the existing OEM backup camera from the lame mirror display to a Kenwood in a Tacoma? The Kenwood has an RCA jack on the back panel for a video input, but don't know where to pick up the video feed from tailgate. Also wondering if anyone knows what format the video feed is.

Lastly, my 20-pin connector from the double-din Kenwood has a long purple/white wire labelled "Reverse"...to the reverse lamp switch/lamps I guess. Where did anyone find this connection?

Lastly, lastly...I'm trying to tie in an Axxess ASWC steering wheel control module. I've seen posts where some tie the white/red wire to ground...I don't seem to have a white/red wire in any of the harnesses. It's not working correctly even though I can get some LED activity.

I'm truly amazed at those that installed theirs in less than two hours. I spent six hours yesterday doing mine and still don't have all of it up and running. (I have the HU wired up and suspended from the mirror with a strap while trying to get the bugs out.)
One problem I had was with the Crutchfield-supplied Kenwood 5180. They supply a 'cage' that looks like it should provide the mounting...not so Grasshopper. There's no way it could be used as such. Finally used the plastic mounting 'ears' and looks like it will work when I eventually get that far.

Hell at the present rate I might install it with Velcro, looks like I'm going to be getting into it now and then if thing continue as they have been. I am impressed with the Nav though. It's picking up the birds, and correctly plotting the location, even inside the garage.

    TIA

yes you can tap the wire any place you want the easiest is actually at the mirrior. then its easy to put back to stock later just splice in an rca cable up there there is not an rca connection in the factory system so you have to solder it.

I cut back some of the insulation and soldered the wires rather than those shove in taps. Picture quality remained and is great on both screens.

OK thanks guys, great URL's, pics and finds.

I did get the AXXESS adapter to work. Found the right color wires coming from a connector that was back hiding behind stuff. And the white/red DID need to be grounded.

Any idea which Double Din stereos are compatible with a 2009 Taco that has the regular stock mirror? Mine did not come with the back up mirror, it does have the camera though.
