I picked up some boards I was looking for in Spokane yesterday. If I would have got them on ebay I would have paid double the price. Now to rip and glue strips together to see what I can make. :)

Nice to find a woodworking thread on here. I’m new to TW, and just got my first Tacoma last month. I enjoy woodworking mostly as a hobby, but I’m taking a break for a bit because we’re hoping to build an addition that will include a garage/shop in the near future. Currently everything is set up in a “carport”. In So-Cal it’s not too bad, but it’s certainly not ideal and I really don’t have enough space.

I’ll have to check in here regularly and follow alone with what everyone is making.

Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
I'd recommend putting some stickers closer to the end of the boards to keep the wood from splitting.

I just found a good fix for Jet brand table saw miter; when the pivot pin falls out and you need a replacement, look on the web and find a replacement for $3.57 and they charge $10 shipping! Scratch that! a 1/4 drill bit fits perfectly in the pivot pin hole which is un-threaded. I sacrificed an old drill bit and cut it down to about 1.5" put some 5minute epoxy in the hole with the "new" pivot pin and its going to be there forever now!

Anyone have a Jet Table saw fence laying around? Ive finally took the time to get everything square as its going to get but now I noticed the fence is tweeked!:goingcrazy:Not much by any means but it doesnt lay flat on the the table top:mad: I found the replacement bar is $72, plus shipping...whatever that is. If anyone has a GOOD Jet table saw fence laying around and can beat that $72 price that would be great;)

What model? I don't see too many fences come up for sale but I'll keep an eye out.

Also My fence is bent/warped whatever you want to call it, but I bought it used and the guy said it was basically new, which it was. But I guess they dropped the fence or something since its got a warp in the middle. I tried tapping on it a little with a mallet but I figure its only going to mess it up more and it didnt change anything.

My fence is adjustable for squareness and is not square across the table when you move it so I always make sure it is tightened to square before I do any work. On occasion I have added a board to the fence help with longer rips etc.

Ive been working on a couple end grain cutting boards. Got the pieces almost all cut out for the zig zag pattern, just need some more pieces to glue up and cut. I got set back a bit because the first cutting board I made almost 10yrs ago was warping and my wife wanted it repaired so I took that apart, planed it and its gluing now. And the third one is all cut out I just have to start gluing pieces, then square it up, amazing how much boards an end grain cutting board take up.They are going to look nice, but really heavy, I know my wife is going to want to keep one of these two end grain pattern ones. I'll post some pics tomorrow of what I have so far.

There is a really good chance that you will blow up the piece running it through the planer. End grain and planers don't go well in my experience.
