I'm pretty fond of Douglas County personally. And I was the kind of ex-Californian that the real Nevada wants.

I had to pick up some animals from a guy that passed away out in Antelope, dude lived in a hand built garage with no power for 30 years. I was jealous of ol' guys set up. 40 acres of land and I didn't see a single pile of bullshit.

I have a lot of friends who are really cool and I’d love it if they moved here from California, the only problem is with real estate Californians are driving up the real estate costs to the point that only Californians can afford it and forcing Nevadans to move out to Silversprings

I wouldn’t solely blame any one state for the influx but this is the part that bums me out. I had a few friends buy houses pretty quickly out of high school (2010ish) and they’re sitting pretty now with the housing market but for people like me who traveled around and worked weird jobs and spent(spend) money on dumb shit I can barely afford to buy a crappy house in my home town. Granted the later one is self doing, with assistance from TW :anonymous: /rant

KC, I know how you feel man. But I'm sure I don't have to tell you that there is an upside to that because I kind of did the same thing. There isn't a damn thing that I regret, or a single experience that I would even consider trading just to be in the position of those said people. I did what I wanted and went where I wanted, experienced things that were awesome and can never again just because of being in the right place at the right time.

To be honest, I don't know much about that particular movement.

Ok, I'm off to my HOA Office to pay the HOA dues.....Hopefully I don't punch someone in the face while I'm there. I really really hate going to that office. The last time I was there, I'm pretty sure I taught them some new words.

Screw HOAs. I kind of like the idea in concept. In execution its just dog shit. I refuse to live somewhere that has them.

Yeah, where I currently live there is no HOA, but my rental has one and they are a real PITA. The hypocrisy is ridiculous.

I live out in Spanish Springs Eagle Canyon area with an HOA. Dumbest thing ever. They're more worried about a couple weeds in someone's nicely landscaped front yard than the house that has no landscaping whatsoever and the whole front IS weeds. Or they're more concerned and send me letters about me parking my trailer on the side of the street in front of my house for 2 days over a weekend after I'm done using it(which per HOA bylaws there is a 48hr 'loading/unloading' trailer allowance) vs the car 2 houses down that hasnt moved in 6 months. When I questioned them about the violation at their office they stated it was for RVs/Boats and not 'utility trailers' and that if I had just left it hooked to my truck parked I wouldn't have been hassled, even though I would have been taking up way more room and encroaching into the front of my neighbor's space. Um wut?

That's nuts. I hope the next base I'm stationed will be Nevada but I can't deal with that. I've been lucky to buy houses outside of HOA and have good neighbors that keep up their property. We'll see though. HOA is a complete waste of money and don't do anything to the people that don't care but harass the ones who rarely do something against their regulations.

that's freaking stupid. ours is almost nonexistent. we pay all this money but they don't enforce jack. i called them out on it at a meeting (which they always seem to do them at 1030am on a weekday in the damonte area and our community is by the Raley's in Wingfield) and when they didn't give me an answer i went to the management company and have since been banned from their facebook page

my biggest frustration that i complained about is that they claim they are a "landscape only" HOA, meaning all they do is maintain common areas. I called the landscapers out because they don't maintain our half of the neighborhood. also asked them "why did you people mail us 4 CD's of covenants and bylaws if no one is enforcing them"

That's what we thought. Had to have either pissed off some random person thats part of the HOA on my street, or someone that is friends with someone in the HOA. When we stated that we feel as though we're being singled out over dumb little things like mentioned above and theres tons of other houses with violations for months on end they said oh no we sent out X-hundreds of violation letters and no one in the community is part of the HOA, it's externally managed/enforced. Yet ever since that meeting with them last summer we've been left alone thankfully. I got a violation letter every other week for like 3 months for something like my trailer, a couple weeds in my side parking gravel area, a non-moving vehicle in my driveway (my Tacoma in my driveway that I drove someone at least 2-3 times a week but parked in the same place. LOL), etc. Got old fast. Was actually kind of glad I got summoned in to a hearing over my trailer after my 3rd 'courtesy letter' from the HOA.
