Yea I mean I know the concept it's just I don't know if it's even possible in a taco given how far the pedals are so I was wondering if anyone else did it lol but just down shifting well before you need to and applying brakes afterwards seems to make more sense in most cases. Just tryna play racecar in my slow af 4 cyl sometimes

 

I’m not an expert, nor a pro, but this is my personal experience:

At high speeds and when taking a tight curve or corner, I heel the brake lightly a “millisecond” before you push clutch/rev match/downshift if you need to scrub to a reasonable speed before the downshifted gear will engage.

My reason: Sometimes, at high speed, if you don’t heel that brake, then you’ll get a jerky speed reduction when your lower gear engages. Smooth is good IMO.

The reason I use the heel at the brake is to make sure I have control of the accelerator with my toe (actually front half of my foot) at the same time.

Lol not offended, I like my build. And fabs yea they real rings but took them off cause they're pretty beat up.

Also agree, wish the ARB bumpers had recovery points and the approach angle could be better and heavy as fuck. But I like the look.

I'm confused what do u all mean by rev matching

 

Push in clutch rpms drop. Rev engine above where you were and shift into desired gear let off clutch and boom. Revmatched

 

Use the brakes to slow down to where you won’t be over revved in the next Lower gear. Then let off the brakes blip and downshift. I did it pretty aggressively pulling into the truckstop Saturday when you heard it lol.

like Steve, I’ve been “rev matching” in trucks for years. Mostly with Eaton Fuller transmissions in some sort of Mack.

I’ve never found a reason to do it I’m my personal, sycronized trans, vehicles though.

I do, however, occasionally try to hit the Jake brake toggle in my Taco... Or reach up to the headliner to adjust the volume on the radio.

Neither one ever works unless I’m in the Mack.

 

Aussie rigs don’t have the American standard D ring recovery points and they out getting stuck way more than us.. So you good!

 

Goals.

 

I don’t think I can drive without rev matching. And heel/toe is second nature.

 

They also have functioning winches while wheeling
