2.5" Lift or 3" Lift

Just trying to get some opinions on which would be better to buy. Some pros and cons of each. I have an 05 tacoma regular cab 6 lug 4wd.

 

Um i say 3" because I have one. I can fit 33s in there it virtually no rubbing

 

Did you have to get UCA's?

 

nope iv got a 08 trd off road with a 3" i love it im eventually guna get a 6" but now i fit 33's i had to do quite a bit of cuting on the finder i did a fair job so it looks stock but also had to have a buddy to the body mount chop on both sides but now its great no rubbing the only thing is my stock billys wouldnt allow for full flex because at a certain point they would be fully extended all i did was buy some toyo-tec nitro 8000 shocks from powerandplay.com just cause my buddy works there and i rather give him my business then anyone else only cost 115 bucks for both and they work great and ride amazing and still arnt fully extended even with flex. i am looking into new uca's but no they are not needed for a 3" lift but anymore then 3"s yes u will need new uca's

why is this even a question? its .5" the only difference is that you can clear 33" tires. However, I've seen 33" clear with 2.5"

The reason I asked the question was because I had concerns about needing UCA's, more vibration and stuff like that. I didn't know if one had more problems than the other.

 

3" and above require new UCAs...some guys on here have been able to get close to perfect alignment with out but I call that luck. 99.9% need new UCAs

Ideal specs are...
Toe - 0

Camber - 0

Caster - 2.4+ to 2.8+

 

just go with the 3" Lift...You'll be glad you did. But on the other hand, are 33s that important to you? Cause they are to me

 

So chances are I wouldn't need new UCA's with a 2.5" lift? I don't want 33" tires so the benefit of the extra .5" doesn't bother me. I looked around and UCA's are expensive that is why I ask.

 

Gotcha...you won't need UCAs if you stay under 3" so at 2.5 you'll be golden and plus if you do decide to run 33s down the road you can...it'll just take some trimming to fit em Hope that helps bud

i was able to do a 3" with out new uca's but i did have to get an alignment done but my stock uca's work just fine with the 3" and 33"tires

 

I think any lift needs new UCAs I had about 2.25 inches and even though my alignment was within "spec" it was way jacked up. I got new UCA and now my alignment is perfect and can be adjusted to be perfect. I'm at about 3.25 now with very good alignment.

anything over 2" should have new UCAs

 

i do agree with solus but at the time my wallet only allowed lift but next on the list is an off road bumper then some light weight racing uca's

 

What are some of the symptoms of needing new UCA's if you get a lift?

 

your gonna need new ucas with 2.5 or 3 and the rubbing is almost identical, its only a half inch difference.

If you want to get a worse ride by adding a spacer lift and get it up 3" go for it

if you want a better ride then what you have now then get billys at 2.5 and this way you get your lift and new shocks at the same time.
