I got the band the same time as my wife got hers. It was a package deal, so who knows how good / bad I did or what type of quality I got. I'm not stressing it as it's held up well enough for me.

Do you know if the 6.2 has cylinder deactivation? That was what ultimately claimed my dad’s Tahoe. Apparently, it’s more common than most people would like to hear about. Can’t wait til they can shut down 7 cylinders

Not sure about the 3.5's, but I did high 20's (27-29mpg) a few times on trips with my 2.7 this summer. No drafting or tire pressure trickery, just back roads in the sweet spot for MPG's (for my truck 55-65mph) and watching the instant readout like a hawk. I usually average low 20's with it during the summer, though, when I'm not towing the boat or rolling the windows down to hear the turbos :anonymous:

My problem is, I have an MPG sweet spot and an power band sweet spot. One of those is a lot more fun to be in and in direct conflict with the other... I’ve found them to be about 2-3000 rpm apart from one another.

Do the current Ford engines allow you to change the spark plugs or do they still take the threads out with the plugs?

Loved the 8' bed on the F250, the seats, the space. Not so much the 9mpg & the motor going to crap after 100k.
At least the Taco isn't sneaking around on me with the mechanic.

Extended cab, 2.7, xlt sport, 302a, tow, 3.73 e-locker, drop in bed liner, mag gray, maybe fx4. MSRP is 47ish on that if I remember right.

I would like a sunroof but that's $1000. Depends what numbers he comes back with based on my order, I think.

Didn't realize you could special order 3.73s with the 2.7. Bumps the tow rating up to 8100 and the thing should be a rocket with that combination.

    133. I fear around 150 the value will start dropping quicker.

IIRC, it was Triton modular engines up till 2005.
My friend had a F250 with a Triton and launched 2 plugs.
The Ford "fix" was to Helicoil the blown threads.

    Good morning all.
I gave very serious consideration on an F150 last summer. Numbers just didn't work for me. As a feel good measure, the Tacoma was the recipient of a few mods... So I'll be keeping this until it's ready for the scrap pile. 5 years at 31k, 6 speed. I may never need a new vehicle.

Lets talk about F-150's. From an Owner. I traded my 2015 3.5 Ecoboost XLT in yesterday w. 52k miles. I will mostly likely never buy one again. 1- The 3.5 is the engine to get hands down, fast as hell, quick off the line and tons of torque, if you are picking an engine, get the 3.5 eco it rips. Also, get max tow package, anything else is dumb. You can tow all day long with no problem. I've literally driven from NC to MA 12 hours with a 7k trailer and didn't raise my temps. If you don't get the max tow with the extra trans cooler, then be ready for it to break down. My BIL has a fleet of them, and had to get rid of a few that didn't have tow package and constantly were breaking down all over the country on jobs.
2- Ford has way better seats, and adjustable to the cockpit area, hand down wipes the floor with my new Taco.

*There is some turbo lag, but if you drive in sports mode it greatly reduces it and once the transmission learned my driving style, it flys. It drops from 5th to 2nd instantly when I hit the gas to pass. No idea about the new 10 speed, I had the 6 speed. A lot of good reports about it though once it learns your style.

Okay, so those are two big plus' and I loved the engine and feel when towing. So what was wrong?

1- My doors WILL NOT CLOSE in cold weather (anything under 20 it can happen)
2- My windows WILL NOT DEFROST, this leaves ice all over my wipers
3- My wiper wash lines froze anytime under 20 degrees and would re-thaw no matter how long I drove. This is with -20 solution in them.
4- YOU CANNOT GET GOOD LIGHTS, unless you pay 70k or 3k for replacement LED's. Their halogens are trash and should be illegal.
5-LOL at what you will get when you trade it in, I lost 50% of my value in 2.5 years and that is with some very nice OEM upgrades done to it.

So, since the truck refuses to work in the winter I had to get rid of it. I had none of those problems my first year of ownership, I have no idea why it shit the bed this last 3-4 months. The 2018's have new door stuff and I don't think it's a problem anymore. As far as I know they haven't redesigned the windshield heat issues, but top trim platinums etc.. have heated wiper blades now which acknowledges it was a problem.

There are a lot of good things about the F-150, but dependability was not one of them. I was in the shop constantly.
