Thanks for the info, I have a new one, warranty, that I have in the box to install. So I'm going to try some fixes when installing those to see if I get a better fit.

Yea, if your rails are not right, they should send new ones, no questions asked.

I actually had some silver markings appear on the vinyl cover which was the reason for the warranty. They sent me a completely new one; so round 2 I'll be going in with more information and practice than the first time. My rails have not wanted to cooperate from day 1 with the bending even after talking with Bak. So this time I'll add some gasket under the rails to help further seal out water from getting into the bed under the rails and to prop up that inner edge.

Wonder what's with the RAM badges on the side. Maybe "it's got a hemi!"

That sucks. Usually it is me that has issues with things. I wonder what the silver was.......

Actually, I heard they updated the X2. There is a newer version of it. Something different with the vinyl. I just make sure to apply some of that 303 Aerospace Protectant every chance I get. I apply a lot too.

Actually, I am not sure how you are gonna squeeze any kind of gasket under those rails. If anything, if it will be a permanent install, maybe use some clear silicone?

I have the bed mat and while some water does trickle in, the mat keeps anything I have in the bed dry.

Good luck. Post up your results. If you were closer I would lend a hand.

Yeah all 3, ramcharger, scout and bronco look almost exactly the same aside from some subtle differences.

I did not have any issues with my X2's rails. It could be because I screwed in all of the screws without really tightening them down at first. Then, as I went back to really tighten each screw down, I made sure to press down on the top of the rail that overlaps the bed side-rails (where the Bak weather seal meets the OEM bed rail).

Yup, exactly how I did mine. I think that is key. As a matter of fact, I did the one side twice because I was sure I didn't do it right the first time.

Well that will be interesting to see if there is a difference between the one in the box and the one on my truck. 303 is my new favorite tool for detailing; the stuff works too well. As for the gasket, I'm hoping to keep it slightly thin and put it closest to the be to help bolster that side up a bit. Trying not to use silicone for the small chance I decide to change up my direction.

Yeah, I had done this multiple times and it still ended up flexing on me.

Though I’m happy with my color, Orange has always been my thing! If the Tacoma TRD Pro was offered in this color, it would have been my decision hands down. Nice looking trucks gang!

IMG_E2551.jpg Might as well post this pic here too! Hopefully that won't get me banned. Just got my first Taco, an inferno TRD OR. Got a knock-off pro grille to start things off, when the weather gets better I'll have some more fun with the appearance.

Hey @echomonkey welcome to the Baddest Color Tacoma Thread on the Forum! :hattip:

Just curious, why do you think posting that pic here will get you banned? I am a picture posting frak and still here (knock on wood). Just curious. Did you read something to the contrary?
