or order the DK option when you buy a Toyota (its the universal option across all models) that is the document holder for that vehicle. or order one off Amazon/ebay :)

most dealers will not select the DK option when doing allocation on a vehicle unless the customer asks for it.

This is the first vehicle I have ever bought that didn't come with one, so I didn't know that ordering one was even a thing. But I'm sure the toyota version is a bit more expensive than the $3.50 I spent at homies. Well aside from the $100 in other stuff I bought at the same time...

the dk option is a leather holder with a Toyota logo. usually what happens is the dealer keeps the nice one and puts a crappy one in the glove box or nothing at all. I always ensure the DK option is on the window sticker when I order a Toyota.

actually the price is free to the consumer but the regional port charges the dealer $6. if you look on the window sticker it will show $0 cost.

You're a lot neater than I am. I just have all of my stuff jammed in the glove box.

I'm very important. I have many leather-bound manuals and my truck smells of off-gassing plastic.

just to add, the DK option will not show up anywhere except when you select options via dealer daily when you put in an allocation request.

its not in Toyota brochures or Toyota website.

it was originally meant for dealers to order and pass along to the customer as a quality of life thing. it was free way back but now its around $7 cost to the dealer and zero cost to the consumer. but as it would happen some of the dealers stopped to save money.

I kept my nice Gen 2 (leather with dividers) when I saw the cheap pos the Gen 3 came with.

It's all about the dealer. They decide which (if any) document holder they would like to include in the purchase. I got the shitty plastic one with my 2nd gen and my 3rd gen.

Worst parts department I have ever been to right there. They charge list for everything, don't stock shit, and they are all dicks.

things Dealers do to make an extra buck! what is next? $ for air in the tires?! Profit margins must be pretty tight, or at least the dealers want us to think that.

I got the DK portfolio but I took it out and put it in my file cabinet. All the manuals are available on my phone through the Toyota owners app. I'd rather have room in the glovebox.

well if you look at that way that's still saving $7 a vehicle sold, so if your volume is around 50-100 cars a month that could get spendy over a year.

the comment about charging for air in the tires, dealers already do that by charging you for nitrogen in the tires (which btw regular air is 78% nitrogen already)

They're the worst dealer in general. I hate them. After I get my 30K service im cancelling my contract and never going to those assholes ever again. I've been getting my free 25K service from Piercy, they're great!
