The 2.7 seems to be holding the test of time. Really don't see many complaints about the 2TR-FE. Proving to be one heck of an engine.

Toyota and a 4 banger. Unstoppable. I'll be back in the club soon fella's.

This pic is just truly fantastic.

I highly enjoy it. It's Gideon. All summed up. In one pic.

    The shirt is the icing.

I know enough about it to get in trouble ha!

It's not supposed to 'kick', but a smooth ramp up in the valves and cams.

I saw a video on YouTube where a dude with a jeep Cherokee ran a pvc pipe from his factory intake through the engine bay, through the firewall, up along the a-piller, across the roof and into the back near the back glass. THAT'S how you make a snorkel. Anything else is inadequate.

Haha I was smiling too much and it looked like I was having too much fun so I tried for a desperate, lost at sea for 30 days, look for the betterment of the photo shoot. Then right after this I had to cannon ball in the lake and go get a winch line from Everett. Haha
Even my mom has told me that ...

True. What 99.99999999999999999999999% of people with a snorkel forget is your truck will be basically fucked from an electrical stand point before you even need the thing.

Everett is the exception to the above rule, he fucked the engine before anything else!

This is true, that's why vehicles in places like Australia often ship with them from the factory. Doesn't mean they don't function as a preventative measure for when your air intake dips under water for a few seconds. Either way, they do offer a benefit

So the same as changing a $20 air filter?

    Yes.
And I'll grant you that I make little use of it wheeling in Kentucky and Tennessee.
But those out west, who run desert trails for days on end, how many air filters would they need to carry without a snorkel?

And yes... I know you can blow out an air filter and re-use it...

Well, dude did take it through water but it was small. Like on 33s. He was clearly doing a budget friendly build.

I love the snorkel argument. Everyone here wants a snorkel to keep water out of their air box but when called out on it, everyone here admits having knowledge of it not being made to keep water out of your air box then properly argues the reason for having a snorkel while stating the facts that people other than themselves in places other than this need them. Which leads me to believe everyone bought a snorkel not knowing what it was actually for or they bought it knowing it won't actually do anything for them but they sure can lie to people about it waterproofing their engine.

But ...... y'all aren't that ignorant or that shady so I stick to my original thought ..... "It looks cool."

    *For Justin* LOL

Cut & broke off stuff. Prolific ziptie and tape usage.
    lol

Actually, I got mine because I intended to cut up fenders to fit bigger tire and wanted a little peace of mind about the position of the air inlet after mangling the fender liner.

    (and for looks)

It does actually help with traversing moderately deep water, as long as you keep moving.
My door seals leak enough that if I stay in water for any amount of time, it starts coming in the cab.
Since things in the cab are not water resistant, this can quickly lead to problems.
But with the snorkel, I feel much more confident that I can cross a 3 foot deep body of water without sucking any into the intake...
As can be seen in the picture above, even with water splashing across the hood and up the windshield, I did not hydrolock my engine, or even get my air filter wet...

I've got a snorkel and knew it was for dust. Everybody asks if I go through huge rivers and what not, I look at them real stupid and say "no it's for dust, but it helps with water too."

I got it for looks and for fucks sake it cost me $150 from Amazon :D
