No that is what i was saying would work better for you vs a bearing spindle.

If you can make it fit on your bumper.

hmm...tool box..and bed rack. Gonna be a tall bed rack if you are putting a tent on it and want the tool box to still open and the CO2 to fit under the tent...which will not be keeping it low COG :p

I loved the tool box I had for a while too. But ultimately, for the stuff we do. Not always ideal. hard to make them work perfect.

welcome to the world of compromise! haha it'll be every changing until you find what you like. Shit'll buff out.

but you carry extra tables already? lol.

the one thing about the tiregate is it cant just be put down to have room for motorcycles unless yours already will fit diagonally with the tailgate closed. you dont lose any length in the bed with it closed otherwise though. it does use bushings for 2 pivots instead of bearings.
if you go that route i have that exact swingout assembly ill give you a good deal on. even have the latching handle pelfrey uses on their swingouts if interested.

It should definitely be able to fit on my bumper. The bumper has a built in step that makes it come back far enough to get something like that on I'm sure. Ideally the bed rack would start after the tool box. It's a slim line so it ends close to where a double cab ends. Only downside is the gap there will be between the box and the rack. If need be, I can adjust the mounts and make it lower another 3.5". I also really really like @nw_chris 's tilt setup.

All of these conversations are telling me I need a welder.

The tables are a for now thing, and ideally something that is temporary. Would be great if I could just do a tailgate and a swing out table. That's plenty of working space for my needs. I think a removable swingout is a better direction for me regardless.

i gotchya. if you decide to pursue a swingout with that "spindle" let me know. i took it out of the box and then put it right back. just not something i have use for anymore.

Get a welder. It really opens up the world of custom modification instead of just buying bolt ons

I'll definitely consider it, I think that's a great solution for me.

Yeah there is already a ton of custom welded shit all over the truck, designed and built to be far stronger than factory. The only downside is I am at the mercy of my friends in being able to get it all done. And don't get me wrong, I love my buddies, I love mod days and working with them, and I love drinking with them afterwards. But there is something to be said about having all the tools you need in your garage ready to rock whenever you need it.

All you need. Attach when going on trips, remove at campsite, keep in the garage until then.

Swingouts = more room to put more crap to hangoff the back and even worse departure angle.
Not bad going in a straight line but navagating around trees that now additional 16" (12.50 wide tire + mount + tubing) and you'll wish you still had the bumper without all that.

 that has the exact same issues and worse departure than a swingout. works fine going down a straight paved road though...

I really liked my tilting one as well. Going to do a new one that is simpler and stronger soon.

But you're forgetting the CO2. If you put a RTT on there to clear the tool box, it'll end up so it is basically even with the back of the bed. My RTT on my double cab takes up the whole bed really. So to fit the CO2 under it it'll have to be decently high. That's my point.

Either way. yes, get a welder, 220v if you can as it will be much nicer.

nope didnt overlook that. what are you supposed to do with it while youre out wheeling through the woods to a new spot or whatever?

ive not been on a trip where i camped in one spot more than a night. then you have to find somewhere to put that stuff and the basket.

:jerkoff: either way the idea is to have a better departure angle. Bedrack is better solution then a swingout, etc.

Yea my RTT takes up the entire bed... I had to design my rack just high enough that everything I wanted fit under it. And now when buying anything else it has to be under a certain height...
