This happens to me all the time with Firestone. I made the mistake of getting their lifetime alignment package for $185, so I can get an alignment done as often as I want for the life of my truck. Sounds like a great deal for someone that wheels often and constantly needs alignments, but Firestone sucks balls at doing it correctly. The steering wheel is never centered and any adjustments they make last for a few days at best.

Problem is that they don't do custom alignments and only try their best to get it within factory specs, which don't exactly work for lifted trucks like most of ours. Make sure you take it to a good alignment shop that can give you a solid custom alignment...usually more pricey than a factory spec one but it will be correct and last longer.

I drive my truck off pavement more than on. Mostly rough washboard roads with some more technical stuff every now and again. I have had it for almost a year and never had an issue with the alignment (including some pretty hard hits at medium/ high speed). I wasn't doing anything crazy the other day, but oh well. Ill take it to the shop and hopefully everything checks out.

it really doesnt take much to knock off alignment, I learned this while helping a guy I used to work with on his circle track car. We see him round the bend barely hit another car, he comes in steering all crooked. It didnt look like a hard hit, he said its nothing major. just takes a light tap to mess up any steering. Years later that still sticks with me, and holds true.

Gotta be careful too. Some shops will only do toe, center steering wheel and send you home. If you go have them print out the before and after just for piece of mind or at least after.
Should print out something like this. The 1st print out is from a car/suv or something with adjustments in the rear.

In case it ever helps someone else… this same situation happened to me today.

Got an alignment and it fixed it right up. Easy.

    Hey guys!

I recently smoked a curb after turning a corner on ice and now my steering wheel is crooked:) I hit the curb almost parallel to the rim at 10mph or less.
The truck drives mostly straight still with the tilted wheel surprisingly. I mistakenly took it to discount tire for an alignment and the ramrod could not get the jam nut free on the tie-rod then gave up and somehow made the toe worse. I jacked it up when I got home and found the drivers side tie rod has some new play in it while shaking the tire at 3 and 9 positions but found nothing to be obviously bent.

From the initial alignment reading, it looks like I shifted the whole steering off ~1 degree on both sides to one direction (which makes sense as to why it drives semi-straight still). Can anyone explain how this happened? Did the steering gear slip a few teeth or is something I'm not seeing internally damaged possibly? I'm not entirely keen on the inner working of the steering assembly so any insight would be greatly appreciated!

I'm trying another shop tonight to see if they're more competent than discount tire as to what needs done but will soon replace the outer tie-rods myself as it seems simple enough (maybe inners too?).

I would guess your steering rack shifted over a bit.
