Yeah I just kinda zip tied them up or left them hanging if they weren’t obstructing anything else. The passenger side has the wiper fluid resivor all in the way so just do what you can.

Below the grill is a great spot if you don’t want to do a hidden front recovery and winch, but I do. Also you will pick up a lot of grime on it there which is a pain to clean.

Hey.... can someone tell me how to take down the map light console on a Gen 3 ?

As I was pushing the new LED map light in I also pushed the bulb holder up into the headliner somewhere. :help:

It’s snapped into place. Just pull on it, straight down, on either side.
There’s a video on YT also.

    I'll look now, thanks.
It's on there pretty tight, thought there may be a screw in the eye glass cubby or something.

Hmmmm, damn, why didn't I think of that. Ok then, I'll have to rethink that location then. I like how it would be nondescript there but I can see how cleaning it would be a pain. Damn.

Sorry dude but these led's are sheit. Plastic tabs are garbage, really thin - you can break them with your finger. Three h11 leds later and 1 tab broke on each light. Even the one that did work was loose and sloppy in the housing. Not sure if I got a bunch of duds but am sending these back and won't be buying these again and yes I did try changing out the rubber gasket seal as well and it made no difference. Junk

Okay, crappy leds are sent back. At least Amazon is good that way. Now I need 4 h11 leds but this time I am looking for leds that have metal tabs or at least better plastic that isnt thin and brittle. Any suggestions or recommendations. Anyone try the new h11 led switchbacks

I have a question. Maybe it's been asked before. Do any of these light come with Cree leds? Doesn't Cree have some of the best leds on the market?

I'm going to play devil's advocate here. What makes these leds a bad purchase:

    https://www.carid.com/2017-toyota-t...n-led-headlight-conversion-kit-536039272.html

That's one very impressive marketing campaign. Bla bla bla. But for someone like me that's just learning there are a lot of impressive words.

The part that really stands out is the 5 year warranty. Whats the average warranty for leds?

Cooling fans for continuous use is another catchy term. If my truck is on/running, my headlights and fogs are on. Just how I roll. I mean I literally never turn them off. So for me thats a huge hook.

Do I need to worry about leds not having that feature?

I definitely don't want to fall prey to the hype and you guys definitely have more experience than me so again, just playing devil's advocate.

    Inquiring minds need to know.

For the low beams aux leds. Is the locking ring plastic or metal. The part to twist into the head light assembly to lock the bulb in. Reason I ask is I bought some cheap ones made out of plastic and the tabs are brittle

I think they are plastic but not cheap at all and the tabs arent thin either. I think the lights are good quality. You can’t force them in though. They have to go in a certain way and when lined up properly they should rotate into place with ease.

The Hikari bulbs use the CREE LEDs:
    https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01LCE19OI/_encoding=UTF8?coliid=I3PEQUIIPRAPID&colid=1844JWO54Q317&psc=1

...but it looks like they have a newer version using Philips LEDs:
    https://www.amazon.com/dp/B077BT6M6Z/_encoding=UTF8?coliid=I30ATEGWES58HL&colid=1844JWO54Q317&psc=1

Both only have 2 year warranties tho just like the VLEDs. A 5 year warranty is extremely good for any bulb!!

Just from looking at your picture, the housing looks like it's good quality!

As for the collar, it looks like you need to position it properly so that LEDs are firing the right way:

Does that mean Phillips are better than Cree??????

So then wouldn't the higher price/longer warranty LED be the better choice? I mean, if you are paying $90 for 2 years, isn't $150 for 5 just economically more logical?

And those LEDs I posted the link to were just the first one on the first site I found. I was just using those as an example for my discussion. Obviously, a better rated bulb will be more beneficial, both in usability and financially.

Like I said, I run my lights non stop from the time I start the truck till the time I turn it off, day and night (obviously). My drive to work, worst case scenario can be as long as 2.5 hours. But I would think if you are out wheeling all night long you could run you lights for hours on end. What about vacations, where you are driving through the night, and have them on for 8 or more hours. I hope the lights we are looking at can withstand all these situations and then some.

I'm not sure if Philips or CREE are better LEDs, I'm just going off of the Hikari bulbs that I was looking at this week (thanks to this thread) and they are rating the Philips with a more light output. Of course, it has to be taken with a grain of salt until we see some real world test results by the awesome members of this forum! :D

But CREE is always good at coming out with better LEDs, so I expect them to come out with even better LEDs eventually.
