With your 5 lug stock springs and stock shackles, adding Hammer hangers will give you 1/2" lift, and I think it may increase droop considerably if the shackle can fully drop out like the pic

@ARCHIVE - Eric, can you elaborate on what this phenomenon is called “chatter”? I have a really annoying sound coming from the rear of my rig. I have been shopping leaf pack replacements and have narrowed down to Deavers or Allpro Standards. At first I thought it was the spare tire chain but I’ve completely isolated the chain and I still get this really annoying rattle during off throttle or during deceleration. Is this what you’re referring to?

Once I decide on my new leaf packs, I will be going with your Hammer Hangers too!! So beefy bro!!

Hi John, I would not buy the All Pro standard pack, it only lifts a stock weight double cab about 1", but they claim 3", and they take an M-shape.

The chatter I refer to is how the suspension feels over bumps. The tire/axle getting an oscillation like a sine wave over smaller harsher bumps that cause high acceleration of the tires/axle. The feeling to the driver this creates is jarring over bumps and actually a reduction of capability of the vehicle to go faster over terrain. I saw evidence of this in a video that compared the Tacoma TRD Pro to Chevy ZR2. The Pro cannot control the rear tires in the same terrain, keeping vehicle speed lower than the ZR2, and bouncing the driver around. There's several comparison videos, but see the statements starting at 7:00 https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=SKP2lUfVWeE

The stock hanger is like bolting your leaf spring to another spring. It doesn't let the leaf pack do it's job to control the wheel travel. Leaf springs don't just support weight, they also contribute to dampening.

    Eric

Sounds like you have a drive line problem. Do you have a carrier bearing drop? If not that's a good place to start.

whats the difference in performance between the hammers and the shackle flip kit? I'm looking to get at least another inch of lift out of the rear of my truck.

second, with the shackle flip, could you swap out the shackles from the 4" to the 5" to get more/ less lift?
when I take all the heavy stuff off and go baja mode I'd need less lift, and more lift when its loaded down for expo mode.

    allpro expo leafs.

    Hi Eric,
I have Deaver Expedition III springs. Was running your flip kit but was just too much lift in the rear so went back to stock. Would like to lose some ride height if possible. What would be the best setup for these springs. I have 10" shocks now but will be doing your relocate in the future.

    Hey Sam,

The Hammer hangers are best all around option compared to the flip. HH give a better ride. With expo springs and stock shackles, you get 1/2" lift. The HH do both expo duty and desert travel better than flip.

    Thanks,
    Eric

Hey, if you go with HH and select 4.9" shackles, it will end up about a 1/4" lower than stock. And I think you'd feel an improvement in ride quality over stock hangers with the heavy springs.

Great thanks, is there any way to get more than a 1/2” of lift?

Just want to share a few photos of the install process in my third gen. I opted to remove the bed (a bitch and a half with only two people) but made life easier since I was doing the install solo and decided to change all the brake lines too. Installed the shackle hangars with 4.9" hangars with Deaver u402 leaf springs, archive ubolt flip 3" superbumps and kings shocks.

*Edit* and thanks to Eric for being super responsive to all questions during the install and making a bad ass product!!
