This isn't new. My 2014 Audi did the same thing. It stops accelerating when clutch is pressed then goes back to set speed.
Typically if there was a hill or incline coming up I would downshift so I didn't lose speed and momentum.

One of the reasons I waited for the 18. I just did a road trip to Florida and back and the radar cruise was very impressive. Truck already has over 9,000 kms on it.

Didn’t record any video, but tried to get my truck stuck in the sand today and just couldn’t do it. Definitely don’t need that auto crawl control. I did end up pulling out my friends Nissan Pathfinder that he got stuck though. Lol

Hello All, new to TW and Tacoma trucks.

A few weeks ago I bought my first Tacoma, a 2017 SR, 5 speed (MT), 4 banger with the Convenience package. One of the Convenience package options is Cruise Control. My truck does not have cruise control, I assumed cruise control was omitted since it has a manual transmission. I've owned a few older MT vehicles and none of them had CC. I was surprised to the the dialog above regarding CC on TRD models with 6 speed MT.

Does Toyota support/install cruise control on 2017 SR's with 5 speed manual transmissions? My truck's window sticker lists cruise control as an included option. Wondering if it is worth stopping by the dealership to see if they would install CC... I do occasionally go on long, flat trips and CC would be nice.

All of our MT cars (except our long gone and missed Geo Metro) and the Taco have cruise.

I'm not sure if it is in this thread or another, but the wiring is there for cruise. You just need the control switch. It is a quick plug and play.

That said, if it is on your window sticker, I'd take that and a print of the installation thread to your dealer. If they say that it can't be installed, show them the thread.

    Thanks for the info.

I found the CC installation thread, along with a few Toyota dealership youtube videos showing 2017 SR, 5 speeds with CC installed.

Do you have keyless entry? The convenience pkg should have both cruise control and keyless entry

Yes, I do have keyless entry. On my window sticker, keyless entry and cruise control are the only options listed under the Convenience Package heading.

Go to your dealer and get them to install cruise control free of charge. Unless you have the utility package then your truck should come equipped with CC as part of the convenience package.

Yeah if you paid for the convenience package you should definitely have cruise control. Talk to the dealer, should be able to clear up the issue.

maybe someone else has experienced this, or not. i have a 2018 tacoma off road with not evan 900 miles on it. im experienced with driving stick, so im confident it wasnt my fault. i was going from second to third from a set of lights and when i went to third it like didnt go in right away.kinda sounded like it stayed in second . than it felt i hit third. was very strange. then there as a smell coming out. def smelled like the clutch. since than the smell isnt as strong.and the thing drives. no clutch slip.... just wanted to get more info before i go in.. thanks

read up around here and you'll find 3rd gear is often notorious for difficult engagement. some say break in helps, some say MT90 new oil (and check fluid level) can help... I'd do both. and yeah the clutch engagement is also numb and a little weird being up high, and this particular clutch is known to be a smelly one.

    does that cover it?

I did a muffler swap to a flowmaster 40 series and it helps with driving so much. I couldn’t hear the motor at all when it was stock.
