I’m definitely going to have to take mine to someone this year. TurboTax isn’t even getting me a third of what I paid in.

Curious, as I've always claimed nothing (I'm still a youngin) but what does an accountant typically charge for taxes? My dad always just buys the Turbotax with property stuff as he has rentals and I just download a copy to use as well for my taxes, but I always get a refund since I'm not claiming anything. Would it be beneficial for me to get someone to do my taxes?

My accountant charges me $350 total for personal (married jointly) and business taxes. I give them forms and totals and they take it from there...I e-sign and wait for deposits.

Ya, I don't think I make enough or have enough other things to make that worth it for me at this point in time. Last year I got about 2k back but I hadn't been working full time. I expect I'll get at least that, but like I said, I don't claim anything so I typically don't owe anything. Except when I lived in Hawaii but was a CA resident still, I had to pay CA every year, goddamn bastards.

Is it a significant amount more on your return to really make it worth it? (I genuinely am curious, I don't know.) Turbo Tax runs you what, 50-60 bucks? Do you get that $200-250 and then some by going through the accountant?

For my situation, it was definitely worth it. First year my accountant took over from TurboTax, he more than tripled my return.
