Like most laws, zero enforcement means zero benefit. Sadly, they've proven that it is essentially drunk driving.

Frankly, I have no idea what the CHP does for a living anymore. You and I could write tickets on this all day long, every day. Just mount some cams in the side windows, easy peasy. Mugshot and violation evidence in one. Stamp it with GPS location/velocity data, all done. Make it automatic vehicle impoundment and license suspension. It would give people a little more perspective on their privilege to drive.

 

I see just as many police driving on their phones as I do people.

You're right. What am I thinking? We should just take drunk driving off the books too. Fuck. We're all responsible adult who use good judgment and should be allowed to do anything they want, no matter how many other people it fucks, because freedom.

Hell, when you think about it, murder seems a little picky. I mean, I see tons of people who should die every day. and lets face it, they're all going to die eventually anyway, right? What's so wrong about a little nudge in the right direction?

 

if they really want to stop people on there phones raise the fines to lets say equal to a DUI , that would change shit quick.
but a 100 or 200 fine isnt goint to stop anyone.
do you speed? a speeding ticket cost more, and well we all do that.
