After watching the whole thing it doesn't look too terribly difficult. The hardest thing for me would be securing the diff since I don't have a cool diff holder like he does.

Also ECGS got back to me with a quote on the locker install. It'd be $1600 if I were to drive down there and get it done. and that's with 10% military discount on parts. Labor was only $550 which is reasonable, but after pricing it out on their website, it wouldn't cost me anymore to just have them ship it to me, and I could even get new gears. Then it's just another $600 on top of that (after core refund) for the front. It makes a lot more sense to just wait and regear and ARB locker all at once. I may still do the lunchbox locker in the interim though.

You couldn’t rent a diff holder from somewhere? I mean you can rent most any other tool out there. Be worth a shot and that would help a lot.

Yeah the lunchbox wouldn’t be a bad choice for an interim locker since you don’t DD La Flama Blanca (what I’m gonna call your truck (eastbound and down is an awesome show)) it wouldn’t be a hassle being locked all the time. You can have the locked benefits and start saving for new gears, arbs.....and 37s. :boink:

Not yet, but I most likely will when these tires wear out or I get a random $5k to throw at the truck. Right now I'm on skinny 33s

EDIT: but then I'm like, is it REALLY worth it? Logically speaking, it's not. Of course I still want it though.

I'll be the 1st to say... A 2wd prerunner locked is not keeping up with a 4wd.
However...ther are steps you can take to get you close.

Now that you know what it means you can use it
Come on! Already planning a re gear! And you cut for snorkle, going to cut for HC bumper... what it is to cut fenders and hammer a few things here and there? You have to make this grinder worth the purchase! Go big or nothing!:fistbump:

It's a tough line to walk. So far most everything I've done is out of necessity and serves a function (minus a few things, like aux lights and my ARB compressor) but 35s look damn cool and there is benefit off-road. It's just not a lot of benefit to justify the amount of work to make them fit and the cost for them, new wheels and a regear. Eventually want wins with me, so that's why I say I'll probably go 35s, but we'll see.

I went with 35s because I got them for a steal. 33s are probably more than capable enough for trails around here. I think you'd break a lot of stuff with 37s.

Comeeee onnnnn! Make the big jump...don't inch up there!

Welcome to the Lair! He's already ahead being a 4wd. Just wants some more traction but not at the cost of an ARB locker...yet.

I be showing them 4x4s what my little peerunner can do man!

It's not a lot of things but I can make it through most stuff!
