And last question just to understand, you say a standard ARB front bumper sucks cuz no recovery points.. but one can be added. Do Tacoma’s suck as a standard truck cuz we add things to them to make them better?

I was looking at this "hook" a while back, didn't pull a trigger for some reason or another.... Would you (or you guys) recommend this "hook" as a proper recovery point?.... or to replace a "Tow Hook" that my Off Road came with?

Not trying to stir stuff up, just looking for answers..

I was talking to @planters15 earlier bout the mount he has vs the ARB mount. As ARB rolls they very expensive. I’d say the relentless mount is a nice alternative. He mentioned hitting mount on trail a lot but nothing to stop him from moving forward. And it’s definitely better than the tow hook that you can close system snatch or winch. @planters15 can get into more first hand info for ya..

 

I’m huge into function before form. Adding a hook does not make the ARB bumper suck. I believe that is what most of us do with our trucks.. take something, modify, make it better.

Yup, ARB proper point is kinda $$ steep. My OR is equipped with that funky looking hook that is screwed to the front "bar" (proper name for it skipped my mind) with 2 bolts. BPF point is installed to the same cross bar, but with 3 bolts. So both are limited with strength of that cross bar. That's one of reasons I've decided to stick to my funky hook for now.
ARB is bolted to the frame, which is nice. But at that price point, I started to consider a hybrid bumper... (mooore $$$ tho)
