    Can someone with wiring experience help me figure out what gauge wire I need to get for my Rigid Scene Lights? Here are the specs per the back of the box for the lights:

    • 9 watts
    • Amp Draw @14VDC = 0.64

    @buyobuyo ?

    Soldering is easy peasy. It just takes a little attention and patience. I can show you some time.

    Blue Sea has some good resources on their website for that.

    They have a chart of wire size vs run length/voltage drop and circuit load. Here's the link to the pdf: http://assets.bluesea.com/files/resources/reference/20010.pdf

    Or a screenshot of the chart.

    Here's a couple of other references on Blue Sea's site.

    Biggest thing I’m realizing with soldering is it’s all in your equipment. Finally got an adjustable solder gun with multiple tips...after that it’s point and shoot. I think I spent 60 Total on Amazon for my setup.

    Eh... Better equipment helps, but as long as it puts out enough heat for the size of wire you're soldering you're good. I have an old $20 Radio Shack two setting iron that I use. If I did a lot of soldering I'd drop a few hundred one a nice Weller setup.

    My problem was the cheap 5 dollar one would put out a little too much for more sensitive applications. Cause of this I wanted something a little easier to work with. Also the power to swap out tips helps a lot over some big ass bulky tip.

    Do you mean solder gun like this?

    spin_prod_1109842112.jpg

    Those things will pump out the heat. There was an ancient one I used at work in NM that I used to solder 1/8" diameter cable in freezing temps. It was a beast. The whole tip would glow red.
