It definitely gives me some confidence to beat on my lill ol V6 some more without fear of exploding things. :D

It's less Tacoma and more mod
1st gen V8 tundras had the same front and rear differentials as a 1st gen Tacoma, and while the rear differential remains the same in the second gen, the second gen has a stronger front diff so it should hold all this V8 power just as well or better than a 1st gen tundra it came out of.

@v8taco671 what did you do for exhaust? Im doing this swap (but 03'4runner donor) I'm looking at Thorley headers for a 4runner that you have to weld to the runner cats. May delete cats, may try to weld to my existing cats and exhaust. Not sure...

I used the tundra exhaust manifolds and the down pipe all the way back to to crossover to a flowmaster resonator and a super50 delta muffler and stock Tacoma tail pipe

No tundra it goes behind the transfer case near the output flange not like the taco that goes under the trans which is stupid

Ha! Agreed, I allready re-routed behind the transfer case though.. thanks!!! I'm sure I'll have some more questions soon. Not doing the swap for another month or so as it is cold out here in KY and I have other obligations at the moment. ...and no garage :anonymous:

I'm very interested to know if the v8 motor mounts will drop into the v6 location. Keep me posed on that

I've read that they will but that they're in the wrong location and have to be moved. Still not sure but I'll probably cut them off and use the V8 ones welded where I need them. We'll see.

Edit. I have the WHOLE donor 4runner so anything is possible :D

That's what I thought because my dad's runner (2003 v8) and my sister in laws Tacoma (v6) the mounts look the same for the most part I was wondering about placement tho. I made my mounts off the factory location on the chassis that way if I ever get the chassis replaced it will all unbolt like normal

Good idea. Awesome build BTW, LOVE the built regular cabs and the 4.7 is icing on the cake!! Appreciate your V8 contribution to TW, hope to benefit from yours (and others) hard work and mistakes
    :fistbump: :mudding:
