FJ manual says premium is recommended. I concur with others, my 4.0 pings on 87. I've run premium since not long after buying it and it sees happy. Also it's really not that much more expensive.

 

It wasn't much but I always got better mileage with Premium

 

My '14 has Dual VVT and runs fine on 87.

 

No clue - someone did it because they bought one of the blinker adapters and made it work but I didn't catch what they did.

 

I tried premium a couple times before towing and my MPGs really suffered. Not sure why, but the truck did not do well with premium.

 

When you get your summons. Go online You can reschedule your day. If you pick a day during HS vacation some courts cancel jury duty for that week but they don’t or didn’t used to block you from picking those days. But that’s only if you were trying to avoid it

Dunno, wife's 11 dual vvt T4R also runs fine on 87 and that's all it's drank it's entire life.

 

ran cheap petro in my 09, and doing the same in my 17, don't see it being an issue, and I doubt the expense of premium would work out in mpg area. You got to pinch pennies when your work in the public school system.

 

I actually get fewer MPGs on premium, but I can't stand the pinging I get on 87. I kind of have a system now. At a half tank I fill with 87, let it go lower the next time and fill with 93. That seems to keep enough of the good stuff to keep the truck happy.

I also work in K-12 and feel your pain. My counterparts in the corporate world make significantly more than I do for the same work.
