I tried planting grass when I lived in Tucson...pain in the ass and expensive to water, and I used to work landscaping when I first moved there. One thing taking care of lawns at the country club homes, quite another for my own house. Best thing I did was to xeriscape it with native plants. Can make it look lush, and hardly any maintenance.

Yeah, I've been in too many trucks. I have a little truck but don't tell anyone...

Trucks have gates. Proper “SUVs” with body on frame used to be referred to as “RVs”. Everything else is either “El Camino” or “crossover”.

After driving Mack Tri-Axle dumps to yank our backhoes and crawler loaders around...a Tacoma isn't much of truck...payload of a DCSB is what 1100 lbs...kinda laughable. Basically can haul 4 guys, a dog, a cooler and maybe a BBQ grill...

Though I will say it is awfully nice to jump in that teeny truck to drive home after running those machines all day long.

Yeah, I think of my truck as reliable and durable transportation to take me to the real equipment. It took me out in the woods to see a lot skidder not too long ago lol.

I’m just joking ... I worked for Peterbilt for a while and the rivalry with Kenworth was friendly ... most of the time. Of course they’re all part of the same corporation (PACCAR) but I think corporate fueled the rivalry a bit too just to make sure we all built better trucks than Freightliner or International.

Body on frame= truck. Really its one major difference that seperates it from a car, body on frame can pull heavy loads without getting jacked up. Unibody frames would get warped constantly pulling thousands of pounds in weight around you dont see F350 6.7 liter diesels in a unibody frame.

My initial reaction is a truck has a bed on it so by that criteria a Ridgeline IS a truck. But then I think back to the original Bronco and Suburbans. Those were trucks. Basically a truck with the cap / topper or whatever you want to call them integrated. Was the Jeep Wagoneer a truck?

The current discussion seems more EGO based with people swinging their dicks and being part of the truck crowd and mocking those they feel are lower forms of manhood like a Ridgeline. I checked out the Ridgeline at the Detroit auto show last night and personally I love the storage under the bed. For a family with kids in sports or who love camping I see this as a great vehicle. Not for everyone but I feel a great vehicle and gives many people everything they want from a car and still enough truck features to serve their needs. Coming from a 3/4T diesel to the Tacoma (and I did consider a Ridgeline while comparison shopping) not everyone’s needs are the same for a truck. My Tacoma is a little pussy women’s truck compared to the big Cummins. But I don’t need a big truck anymore. Just like many are serviced just fine with a Ridgeline.

Who cares what you call them. Do they do what you need from a vehicle while providing you with the creature comforts you desire? Buy what suits your needs and ignore the opinions of anyone not involved with making your monthly payments.

    Ask your DMV.

    Ask your insurance carrier.

How folks classify things that you have to spend money with matters more than what we think.

Tags, emissions, insurance groupings all matter more than the collective whatever of TW think.
