Well the instructions seem to have never made it onto the laptop and my phone that had it committed suicide last year. The original instructions are at home but I work out of town and won't be able to look at them until Thursday. From memory I definitely had to cut a bigger hole into that rubber boot and I totally do not remember having that round rubber piece. Curious now.

Oh man, I just did this install like two weeks ago and cannot remember. I've must've blacked out do to all the excitement, lol. I do remember cutting some rubber though on the inner boot, and used the oval ring with a zip tie for the outer boot. I think I still have the directions laying around. Let me take a look and I'll take a pic.

thank you so the circular grommet goes into the 2nd dust boot? then the slotted on goes on to hold the 3rd boot on?

On my truck there is more gearbox noise. I believe that some people stuff a bit of insulation to deaden sound under the boot and others, such as myself, like the sound.

Mine is like a gearbox noise too, pretty distinct but as others have said, I like it.

Not to belabor the point too much (read: I don't want to come across as a D!@k), but I can't really tell. Because SC. :mudding::woot:

I don't notice any additional noises, but I used dynamat around the base when I installed it.

Did you put it where it bolts to the transmission? or over the boot that clips in?

I installed the shifter first. Then cut a hole in a square piece of dynamat, which I put around the base of the shifter. It covers the hole going from the inside of the body to the outside, top of the transmission. If that makes sense...

Yes, the bolts are covered from view but they are lower than the body of the cab, so there is some space underneath.
