Please don't tell my Tacoma I posted this...

I own a 2007 Access Cab TRD Sport, V6, 4x4, 6 speed, Long Bed, Bed Shell. 85,000 miles. I am the only owner. Truck is stock except the Magnaflow exhaust (purchased because OEM exhaust muffler rusted through). Never any issues with the truck. I have two sets of wheels/tires- summer and winter. Truck is paid off.

I am probably too sentimental. Here's what the truck and I have been through...

Met the wife and fell in love, college, picked up the lab puppy 7 years ago, traveled cross country and slept in the bed- coast to coast. Even had a swimming pool in the bed a few times (with goldfish)...

That being said....eventually we will have kids. Double cab is more family friendly. Wife already has a Ford Explorer which will be the family vehicle. What do I do with the Tacoma?

    So options:

    (1) Keep current Tacoma. Buy another Tacoma (either 2nd Gen or new). DCSB Manual. Keep current truck as hunting vehicle.

    (2) Keep current Tacoma. Buy Ford Crew Cab Diesel, preferably 1994-1997. And keep current truck as hunting vehicle.

    (3) Sell Tacoma. Buy new Tacoma or full size diesel.

    (4) Keep the Tacoma. Most likely, I will rarely transport children in the Tacoma.

Bottom line. I will eventually own another truck- 4 doors and manual transmission. Should the Tacoma stay with the family? Or go forward and make another family happy?

The original goal: the day I brought the Tacoma home, I said that I would keep the truck forever. Eventually, the truck would be camo painted and relegated to a hunting rig. I feel like I would regret selling this Tacoma...

    What do you think?

If you want a hunting rig, and have the means to keep this truck + buy another... Keep the truck.

Thanks. It would be hard to get rid of a truck that has been so reliable and daily driver.

Keep your tacoma....the access cabs are actually pretty kid friendly until they are out of booster seats which is several years....i have done numerous road trips in mine with the wife, two kids and lab (lab was in bed with camper shell).

I've been battling with the same thing myself for years. Ready to buy a new truck then get all sentimental about this one... @mizzac can attest to being up and down in regard to vehicles. One day I want a new one, next day I love this truck.

Always keep the toyota. Ive regretted selling my last 3 toyota trucks. Keep it. Its paid for. Have fun with it. If you need another rig for other things, then purchase accordingly. Obs fords with the 7.3 are stupid expensive for what they are though. I say keep toyota, buy another taco or tundra.

Awesome, great to hear. How is the access cab with newborn car seats? The truck won't be the primary family vehicle, but it will see occasional family use.

Nvm you're right. Down-payment has been paid. The rest is all interest.

I sold my '08 Tacoma and regretted it for years. Keep the Tacoma and delegate it towards what you originally planned to use it for.

Thank you. I'm afraid I would regret selling as well.

I know the entire history of this truck.
