Junction is awesome. Lunch Loops, Fruita, Montrose (the Whole Uncolada), all within reach of Grand Junction. Gets pretty hot in the summer though.

Top of Burro Pass is ~11K, so the snow lingers usually. @phsycle is right that we normally get one or two super late snow dumps as well, which doesn't help matters.

I need to re-try the Ribbon trail. I had a...mishap...on it after the first huge slickrock section that was a ride ender.

We rode ribbon once, up the road, down the trail. Don't think I'd ever recommend that option. Shuttle it.

That's a good looking bike! If I didn't get my Yeti SB5.5c I was going to get a SC.

I'm coming from a sb5c, and wanted a 5.5, but the HTLT was more fun, and has more travel.

    Madison, eh? Marquette Alum.

A friend and I were actually talking about a St. G trip yesterday. Probably late Feb/early March. How's the riding in Grand Junction around that time? What would you consider Must Do trails? We would just be out there for a day (and a half).

We got a ride up with some others that were going up. Definitely a shuttle trail.

Hiking back to the top trailhead with 3 broken ribs and a 4" gash in my shin, then riding down the road to my truck was kinda not fun though...

Lunch loops is a whole trail system that is amazing just outside of town.

Fruita is down the road about 20 mins, but great as well. Horsethief is the trail to ride there. 18 road is also good to go. Stop at the Hot Tomato after for a slice of the pesto pizza and a beer.

I don't actually think there is a bad trail in all of GJ.

Ribbon, Horsetheif Bench, Sarlacc, Moore Fun (super technical, no flow, great challenge). Junction should be good, but who knows for sure.

    Ouch!

That would be my '06 Kona Humuhumu-nukunuku-apua'aww-shit. It's a parts bin bike. Rear end widened from 110 to 132.5 for a Nexus 8sp coaster brake hub, brake tab from paragon welded to the fork for a 180mm BB7, 3.0 WTB Rangers front and rear on 39mm rims. It's my dumbass go to bike right now. Built by an idiot, ridden by an idiot.

That said, I also ride rigid steel when I'm actually out to do work as well:

    Should have kept the basket!

I had the same idea about putting mtb tires on a beach cruiser from the local pawn shop just for laughs.

then put a moto battery in the basket and run a 10" light bar! Maybe a compressor for on trail fill-ups as well!

Love that El Mariachi. Temper OX steel, instead of the generic 4130 they replaced it with.
