Sorry, but the short bed caps barely sell. We would see a fraction of those sales with long bed since hardly anybody has a long bed. It just isn't worth making the investment in inventory and storage space.

 

so i have small dents on the upper part of my tailgate. i was looking for caps that would cover these up and came across your post. i usually load up my quad and dont want it damaged any more. if you could make a cap for my tailgate that goes over that lip and maybe has some creative designs/logo on the back of it? my truck is a short bed and i would like the side caps.. maybe a quote?

 

The problem with the 3rd gen tailgate, is that the back edge is curved, making it impossible to form with a brake press, which is what we use.

 

what if you just make a 90degree bend, doesnt have to curve all the way around. but its ok if you cant. its a truck.. lol

i noticed on your site that you offer what im looking for only for the 2nd gens. are you sure those wont fit on the 3rd gens?

I am looking at purchasing these steel caps but I am wondering if it would be structurally sound (strong enough) for me to either weld or bolt a custom rack on top of these steel caps to carry a RTT. The reason I am thinking about welding directly on top of the steel caps instead of mounting the bed rack onto the rails is because I would like to continue to use my Backflip G2 and have a RTT on the bed rack.

 

We would not recommend that. They would not be a great anchor point.

 

Thank you for the quick update. What about bolting on a Yakima track with towers and crossbars for the RTT?

 

I wouldn't use these caps to anchor a CB antenna. They don't bolt behind the accessory rails like the 2nd gen trucks.

What is the difference between the "standard" bed rails and those for use with the tonneau cover? I see the standard rails are out of stock for 3rd Gens, but the ones for use with the tonneau cover are not. Thanks.
