Good catch. This was/is an inaccuracy in the spreadsheet. I corrected my post with the new modes.

How fast were you going when you floored it? If below 30 sounds about right. If over 30 I would have expected VSC to kick in.

@Doggman I can confirm what @Topanga Taco said, I was going uphill near my college when it was raining and decided to give 'er the beans... I made a solid 80 turn to the left when my RPM got past 4K until I left off the throttle and traffic halted behind me while I corrected the power-slide (?)... (2017 DCSB Sport 4x4... I'm on KO2's if that makes any difference)

In Auto LSD mode? And how fast when giving the beans? If sub 30 what happened sounds right. In Auto LSD is you are going less than 30 VSC is off which means you are pretty much on your own.

In Auto LSD under 30 the only thing the truck will do is attempt to keep the rear wheels at the same speed via the brakes. Its not gonna cut engine power and under 30 VSC is not gonna kick in and save a big slide.

I was completely stopped as no one was behind me. Let go of the brake pedal simultaneously dropping the pedal to the floor. Instant sideways and spun the tires, but never came near 30mph. I'd say about 15mph and kept constant as if Force was doing a constant burnout.

VSC is OFF in AUTO LSD until you exceed 30 mph! You got exactly what you are supposed to get, unrestricted power to the traction tires (or both if equal in traction).

Any of you Taco hometowns partake in MotoGP?

I ask because I have a strong feeling the 3RD Gen TRAC has some advanced stuff going on. It's definitely not a basic function. I say this because of how easily it conquered the crazy hills at HV. I doubt they stopped with crawl and Mts. Computers dominate MotoGP and are very advanced. I bet the 3RD Gen's have some serious magic going on. Toyota wants to take control. No better way than to put out their best.

The brake control chart shows it... in 4WD HI, Traction Control has no engine output regulation (2009-2011). In 2012, the quick push feature was added to create TRAC as it is in H2 (with regulation). The stronger TRAC was now TRAC OFF, as is AUTO LSD in 2WD (also known as TRAC OFF).

This was posted on page 9 of this thread... SEE NOTE *4
    [IMG]
ALSO, note *2 shows that AUTO LSD = TRAC OFF.

Beyond 34mph can be easily tested at Hungry Valley.

Nice video... Is there one to clear up TRAC vs. TRAC OFF? LOL

You guys are going hate me. If we test we need to add a few more categories.

1-all tests in D or sticks in forward,
2- Automatics all tests in D with brake pedal pushed, two foot driving.
3- all test in R or sticks in reverse
4- Automatics all test in R with brake pedal pushed, two foot driving.

It says in the top picture that defines the TRAC OFF mode that includes ALSD that you cannot choose that mode in 4Hi or 4Lo. See note 1 under the triangle picture.

Note 4 in that graph is interesting and could be true. Default 4Hi TRAC ON VSC ON may not regulate engine power.

Correct, in 2009-2011 there was no button push to choose between TRAC and TRAC OFF.
Look at the note and see that only TRAC in H4 had no engine regulation (same as TRAC OFF in 2WD). They failed to give it the name "AUTO LSD in 4WD" but perhaps didn't because unlike ALSD, the VSC is not off to 30 mph?

In 2012, they added a button push to choose between TRAC OFF (no regulation as it was before, with the name TRAC) and (new) TRAC, now with regulation.

    Is your head spinning yet?

Thanks for the data. I will take a look at it.

I so want to get an SR up some jacks on one side, or get some diagonal testing going... I really don't feel we will really know what is going on until then.

Any documentation to support the change in 2012? Perhaps what you say is true but based on the testing we've done on 3rd gens that's not the case for us. It's possible our 3rd gens match that drive modes table in 4Hi though. As in no engine regulation in 4Hi with TRAC on. This needs to be tested.
