Add on the crazy gas tax that we've got and it starts hurting the wallet , I remember a couple years ago I was paying $ 5.75 /gal for 91 octane that hurt especially driving the Camaro as it barely runs on it and maybe 4mpg . I wish I could run lower octane on my truck but there's a decal inside the gas door that mentions 91 octane only . That must have been put on when the Supercharger was installed by the previous owner

I was looking at this today at a local race fuel distributor here in Hesperia / Victorville area .

Well I went down the Hill this Afternoon to the VA and on the way home I stopped at Rosa Maria's for a XL Garbage Burrito

I know enough to be dangerous although prefer HP-UX and if I have to AIX. We are shutting down our last Unix servers (that I work with) on Jan. 8. Wait it is Jan 24, ugh. Someone somewhere always still wants something. A long time ago used to spend a lot of time in the Red Hat distro. We have a lot of Red Hat Enterprise at work but I don't deal with it like I used to. At least at the hands on level which is what matters. If you don't use it you loose it with Unix IME.

I am wanting to learn about it. Our process servers, which are redundant, pull their OS (Linux) and process apps from a back server which is a Windows box. After all, who wants their $100M machine dependant on Windows? It's mostly transparent from our point, because our engineering server takes care of the compiling and downloading to the proper process package.

    Evening all
Salmon, rice and broccoli for dinner

Saw Mom, she is alert and not in the twilight zone, tomorrow, who knows. It was a good visit.
And now it is no longer a sad picture

We still have Unix and Linux running, I still have a server at home with red hat...havent turned it on in years.

We are moving more and more to Windows Servers. 4 mainframes are going away and lots of midrange servers. AS400's are pretty much gone and IBM used to build them in town here. Big Blue is pretty much gone too though compared to what it used to be. Most of our Unix boxes are moving to Red Hat Enterprise based just on cost. But overall Windows now runs most everything, and even where peoples lives are on the line.

It is old but for the admins that wanted to learn Linux I always recommended Linux for Windows Admins. Amazon scares me sometimes, it says I purchased it on March 21, 2001. I have no idea who I gave my copy to but know I never got it back. Spin up a distro and start playing with it is the best way to learn IMO. Lot of information online now not sure you even need a book anymore.

Depends, for me, I took classes through work, got the software and trial by fire. Always have a reference book, it is easy to forget Unix.
    Dinner was good.
Dad passed 5 years ago. Mom is 92. It is just hard watching her forget herself.

    :hattip: Susan :sorry:

Google and Amazon both scare me. I was using Google app on my phone until it started tuning ads to my searches ... as much as I love the convenience of my smart phone, it gets creepy and almost invasive at times.

I know, I know ... luddite rant over. @Andy
