I'm curious to see how it drives like this. When I had 4.88s and 33s I had a whole bunch of torque but my truck drove worse. When I had 315/75 KM2s on and 4.88s I had less torque but my truck drove better. Now with the 36 TSLs and 4.88s I have slightly less torque but my truck drives even better.

I'm specifically referring to the drivetrain. I could really feel the rear load and unload. Axle wrap was much more pronounced. I shot a video of it to see for myself and the axle would move all over the place. A trac bar would fix that but as I went up in tire size, my axle wrap problems became less pronounced. The rear locker makes this worse as well especially because of a 5 speed. All of this made shifting harder. I started grinding gears a lot and got to where I'd have to wait for the drivetrain to settle before shifting.

There's a reason why race cars are built from the chassis up. You can add 1000 ft lbs of torque to your truck and it be fast as fuck but it's also gonna rip itself apart the first time you mash the gas pedal. All those mushy rubber bushings in your suspension, in your trans mount, in your tcase mount, in your engine mounts, on your body to frame mounts, in your carrier bearing, etc .... they all of a sudden become inferior and hurt more then they help. Everyone wants more power and torque but most don't think about the consequences of that. Just don't be surprised when your comfortable street truck doesn't drive like a comfortable street truck anymore.

Funny this came up, I'm actually switching all my poly mounts back to stock rubber because after I slapped 37s on this thing it shakes like your riding a Sybian! Made the switch back and now it's nice and smooth. Changing motor mounts for new stock ones this summer. Being geared lower on the street is overall nice though, no more flooring it everywhere and excessive clutch feathering. I did love my 255/85s when it was a DD, best tire out there for a 1st Gen, f 35s!!! 35s is just a ton of work to avoid what you will end up doing anyway and should do after 33s, which is SAS and 37s, at least on a 1st Gen.

Too much race truck huh? Haha I am curious to explore this rabbit hole though .... So you went from what to 37s that made this drastic change? One of the reasons i like adding things one or two at a time is to see changes. Being able to tell someone "this specifically did this then when I added this, this happened" and so on. Wanna share some specific observations on this? I mean, reading everyones dumb bullshit is fun and all but anytime I can learn/teach something, I find that the main reason I continue to come back here.

255/85/16, 2" lift all around and a crawl box that I wheeled/DD the piss out of like that for 6+yrs. I had a poly trans mount in the stock Tacoma location for that whole time. I went to SAS on leafs, installed a trail gear trans crossmember, trail ready beadlocks and 37"ssrs, 5.29s, and drove it for 2days around town then hit the road to the black hills for a week of crawling. Shook like crazy the whole way there and back. I thought it was the trans mount going out then blamed it on swampers. Got my Toyos, it didnt vibrate until you went 70+ in 5th gear and put a load on the motor. I described it as drivetrain death wobbled because it would come and go randomly. Changed out my center bearing and adjusted the pinion angle, same issue. This fall after AOP I eliminated the poly trans mount and moved the trans mount to the rear most case and went back to rubber. I'm now 99% vibration free up to 85mph. I elminated the actual SAS since it was mostly moving my trans/tcases and not feeling it through the steering wheel, like bad tires and messed up front suspension parts would manifest themselves.

My hypothesis: the poly trans mount being almost dead center in the drivetrain and worn out stock rubber motor mounts was amplifying the effects of larger tires and an offset rear pinion angle that weren't manifesting itself when I was on a smaller tire. Moving the mount to the very back of the drivetrain and going back to rubber has stabilized the drivetrain and what vibes are left are being soaked up instead of transferred to the trans/motor/my ass/wife's boobs.

Honestly besides the cage it's not that much race truck, AC blasts cold and it's getting power seats and the cruise back working this spring!!

I like Memphis. Good music and food. I only have visited there. Go to most cities and the most traveled parts have a crappy surface, and the poorest parts you probably shouldn't walk around.

    But alas,

    Obligatory Taco pick.

    20180124_194816.jpg

I need some recommendations for this.

    20180124_194830.jpg

Which is a Suzuki K7 750 I picked up super cheap and then tore down compression checked/replaced a bunch of insane power commander wiring and then got stuck.

    20180124_194847.jpg

Any suggestions for where to get this box of plastics painted?

    20180124_194856.jpg

The painter that I had set up has disappeared from the planet. I'm a bit north of Nashville and would like to ask if a TW TN / or southwestern KY member has business like this or a friend they'd like to hook up.

    I couldn't paint to save a panda.
