Yeah I'm not a fan of expensive either but I wanted more light for fire roads at night. My justification was they fit in stock location, didn't want a light bar, harder to steal then light bar/ ditch lights, I can change beam pattern and color, and lifetime warranty.

Added a plug and play lighted mirror control switch.

    20180124_192355.jpg

    Important takeaways:
    • Although it looks way different in the top two pictures, it actually matches really well. The very bottom picture is the closest to in person.
    • The power for the LEDs comes from the mirror control 12v so the LEDs are on whenever the key is at or past accessory mode. (I always keep my dash lights on so it doesn't bother me). You could re-wire it independently if you wanted to though.
    • It was a true plug and play. All the functions work. The little switch in the corner is for my heated mirrors, but I assume you could use the same switch and just have an extra button.

What does the rear vent button do? I’ve never seen that before.

    Mirror switch looks good!

I hope you did more to that 3D than just mix the colors. Check out budget light forum or candlepower forums if you want to upgrade that dim bulbed club. I have a modded solitaire that's brighter.

Hah! Illuminated club for making sure you hit the target. My largest functional flashlight(that I bought) is a 3-led soup can clone. Most of the rest fit in a pocket, sometimes a shirt pocket. One exception is a steampunk retro Buck Rodgers ray gun flashlight. If I used it the poor sap would be blind for a week.

I got the mounts from @Key-Rei

The mounts are probably the simplest ever. They're literally just 2 inch wide 1/8th thick flat stock, I used aluminum but any 8th inch steel or whatever what have could probably work.

I figured out how long I wanted them to extend out from the arm (enough that I could still fold my mirror in without touching the light body) the angle I wanted them coming out at (shallow enough so that they wouldn't stick out farther than my folder mirrors) cut the back of the flat stock to the appropriate angle made a template out of card stock and then drilled three holes in my bar to match up with the three holes that hold the mirror onto the mirror arm, trimmed a little of the lower lip on the mirror arm, rounded off the end of the bar that the light is bolted to then sandwiched the bar between the mirror arm and the mirror body.
    IMG_20180124_104757.jpg

As for relocation of the power outlet,

All I did was remove the four bolts that hold the plug housing to the cubby, disconnected the power plug harness, pulled the cubby, used the cubby and plug housing to make a template for drilling and cutting, used the template to determine placement that would be out of the way but still where the stock wires could reach. Taped marked my holes and cutouts, drilled my holes (I used a 25/64th bit and then installed 1/4 20 riv nuts but you could use a 1/4 drill bit and through bolt) installed the riv nuts, used a jig saw to remove the larger rectangular pieces then plugged in the receptacle housing and bolted it to the truck bed with 1/4 20 stainless Allen socket button head bolts so they wouldn't rust or snag anything.

    Easy!

Seriously though each mod only took an hour or two.

Word of advice if you do decide to do the mirror ditch mounts, fill the mirror arm with 5 minute epoxy to give it more strength and don't over tighten the mirror screws.

I made some bed corner anchor points for my 09. My son wanted to help me do a project so we took these on and did a fine job. And it wore him out.

That is sweet, I can’t believe toyota didn’t start doing that until 2017 in the tacomas. My rear window is never opened because I can’t really reach it from the front seat. Cool mod
