Hey everyone, I'm hoping to replace my 2006 Off-Road with a new 2018.
I love (most) of the looks of the TRD Pro, but for a few reasons I'd prefer to stick with just an optioned-out Off-Road. Looks-wise, what I'd liked best about the Pro is the front grille. It seems as though many folks here have replaced the stock Off-Road grille with the Pro version, but sounds like some have had issues with the front sensor that comes with the "technology with options" package? Is there any consensus yet on how to remedy any issue when doing a grille-swap such as this for the 2018's? Thanks in advance!

I think the easy answer some will say is buy a 2017.

As for your question I'm not sure. I know another member lifted his 2018 PRO and the dealer recalibrated his sensor seeming like to big deal.

Multiple topics regarding this. U just gotta find them and ask some questions from people that have done it directly. 17 is a set it with the new grille and forget it if u can find one. But if u def want an 18 I would track these threads down and talk to those that have dealt with this. Best of luck with the new truck.

I just purchased a new 2018 ACC CAB SR5. I lifted 3 inches, added a nice beefy set of BFG KO2's I purchased a new 2018 TRD PRO Grill from my local toyota dealership. I paid 200.00 for the grill and 50.00 for the "Radiator Grill Garnish" the cover that looks like plastic or plexi-glass on the front just below the word "TOYOTA". i replaced the grill myself in my garage (and I am not that mechanically inclined) It took me about 20 minutes. Everything worked fine. Just as a matter of precaution I did have my system recalibrated. You don't want to find out it was a little off after the fact. Many have asked will the previous year grills or the Chinese knock-off's work. I debated those but for a few dollars more I went with the OEM parts. Don't cut corners on your Tacoma. It deserves better.

Get an OEM, all the china knockoff guys were tickled pink until they started getting LED lights and condoms instead of grilles

Then a few poor guys that posted pics with crooked letters and broken tabs saying "looks great"

Yeah I paid more for an OEM but it makes the truck IMO

I've been digging topic because I have a 2018 Off road but decided to just stick to my stock grille since its not the shiny cheese grater on the 2016-2017, and after getting my hands on a pro grille: didn't like it on quicksand. Well anyway Cali Raised FAUX TRD Pro Grille (around $270) seems to be popular without the issue people are having with the other knock-offs. Many including Cali Raised, said there is no need to buy the $50 dollar Radiator Garnish with their product, but I have not personally seen their grille so I wouldn't know how well made it is.

2018 PRO OEM GRILL is significantly cheaper than the 2017. You can actually get the whole set for less than $250 now which is OEM.

Great looking truck Marvin. I'm glad somebody else here has noticed that other than me. Apparently I have riled a few feathers. I asked Jake at CaliRaisedLed why he was selling his knockoffs for more than the OEM's and he got a little upset. Advised me he was running a business and asked me not to hijack his thread. I apologized but I though it was a legitimate question. Again nice looking truck bro.

Photos are coming soon. As soon as the grille was installed I sent the truck out to have leather seats and a Rigid 30" led bar put on it. I was told he will be done with it by next Thursday (Feb. 1).

Without the garnish is there a hole in the front, or is it just the plexi-like cover for the TSS sensor? Trying to figure out if I need the garnish for a 2016.

You will NOT need the garnish for a 2016. The 2018's have a recessed area for the garnish to go. The pre-18 Grilles look a little nicer for that reason. If you have a 2016 Just the grille and you will be fine.

Let me clarify...on a pre-2016 Grille the area for the garnish is not recessed. That area looks just like the rest of the honeycomb style of the grille.

Somwhen you ordered that part for the 2018, did it have the garnish needed for the 2016-2017 without the TSS or is there a empty hole where you also need to purchase the 2018 TSS garnish? Just wondering if you can buy that 2018 grill for a 2016-2017. Thanks!
