hmmm. i'm so torn. members talk about how loud it is and how much it booms, but i'm skeptical, but curious too

 

It's all relevant to your own perspective, to someone used to a stock system it would probably be booming, to someone such as myself who installed car audio for 6+ yrs a single 10" is a nice bass filler but not booming.

 

I agree that the sound is subjective. My critique would be does it have a good output when needed, as well as punch when needed. Sure I'm not expecting my rear view to fall off or front window to move from the sound wave, but I would like something with some good output and accuracy (for lack of better terms). I have dual Diamond Audio shallow mount 10's right now and at moments they are good, but most of the time they are not. It could be the subs or it could be the box I made.

I do like how this fits in the plastic cubby so I can put it back in the truck and make a nice amp rack on the driver side.

 

If they will also ship to Hawaii for free, then I'm in on the deal.

Been getting questions about the process. I don’t have anything to do with payment or any of your info other than just transferring your name and email to JL. I will send them a list with all of the names and email addresses tomorrow and then they will email each person a personalized promo code that we will have 30 days to use. We would make the purchase right through the JLaudio.com website. They will supposedly include info/instructions in the email. I guess you basically just go to jlaudio.com, mobile audio, stealthbox, Toyota, Tacoma, click the 16+ box, add to cart and checkout and use the promo code. I am not really sure what they offer for payment options, but again I don’t have anything to do with that part, I won’t see any personal info, and I just get the same 20% discount as everyone else. I just wanted the damn sub at a cheaper price!!! Haha

I have a couple choices for amps with this. One is the 5th channel that is rated 300w @ 2 ohms and another is a mono amp that is 550w @ 2ohms and according to what I read this JL sub is dual 4 ohms and is rated for 100w-400w so I was leaning towards the 5th channel of my Rockford and I could get rid of the other amp, but anyone have a thought?

 

The sub is wired for 2ohm. I'm pushing mine with a 5 channel with the sub channel rated 300w @2ohm. I think you're right the 5 channel is the better bet
