spent about $400 at Home Depot and made a storage/sleeping build out. The best part is the whole thing removes in one piece. Just posting to hopefully give other people some ideas of what can be done. Going to add a piece that slides into the middle gap and makes a flat deck up top. If you have your own custom build out, post em up.

Good looking Habitat. Fits the truck vary nice.

At first I was very impressed with the platform and that you built it for only $400. Then I kept scrolling down on your pics and saw you had a $9000 AT Habitat and wasn’t so impressed anymore. Lol just kidding, nice work :D

So you got the Habitat, which has a huge bed in it, and built more beds in the truck bed so you can have beds in your bed and a bed on top of the beds in your bed?

Yep. They serve as storage space, the lids pivot open. they’re great for sitting on and playing cards when it’s raining and even better for stealth camping when you don’t want to pop the tent.
I live out of this thing 6 months a year so it’s good to be versatile and have options

Cool, I'd love to get a Habitat, and build out the truck bed with some camper-like gear. I have a camper trailer right now, but I'm considering selling it and buying an actual full-on truck camper. The one I'd get (Palomino SS500) is nice, but something like 1100lb, so some suspension beefing may be needed, and I wouldn't consider really doing anything off road more than a generally good condition dirt road. For my camping needs, it would more than work.

Eventually I may do a lighter weight camper build out with something like the Habitat, or the Go Fast Camper... In the truck bed, I'd want to put a battery box, water tank, small sink, maybe a small grey water tank, a small fridge and something to sit on. Possibly even mount a propane furnace and/or a small AC unit. Something "overland-able" but nothing too extreme.

I mostly just want to be able to take my paramotor stuff to cool places... AND FLY OVER COOL PLACES!

Right on! I’ve seen some build outs for the habitat by Goose Gear. I’m sure they’re pricy as all get out, but great for ideas. Right now I’m just running with a fridge, Coleman stove and 5 gallon water jug. A full sit inside camper would be great, but like you mentioned it puts a damper on off-road capabilities.

I do a lot of paragliding, always wanted to get a motor! Looks like fun!

Haha! Nah, funny story though. I couldn’t fit in their parking garage, so I asked valet if there was an outdoor spot I could park. They’re like ‘yeah we have a spot out front and 24 hr security!’

Turns out my truck is literally parked on the strip.

Flash forward to that night, was already drinking a little, ‘hmmm I should pop the tent on the strip’

Go down there, pop the tent, crack a beer, turn on the multicolor party lights and before I know it there’s a crowd, partly because of the tent and partly because I had an endless supply of colors light.

Two security guys roll up. Get on their radios ‘hey we have a possible squatter. Truck with a tent on it............’
‘Nah man he’s all good! Has a room at the hotel. We parked his rig up front’

Kid you not, two security guys cracked a beer and hung out for 15 min.

Nice! But the single bed setup looks like an “I Love Lucy” bedroom!” :) Good thing you have a more cozy penthouse up top! ;)

You definitely have won the “Wackiest Place to Setup Your RTT” award! :bananadance:

You should do it! I've never done free flight... my paramotor instructor has, and he doesn't like it that much. You're flying in much more 'rowdy' air and it's more butt-puckering. You'd usually fly with a motor in more calm conditions. If you've got experience gliding, all you need to learn is how to launch with a motor... and the basic gist is, get the wing up and controlled, move forward, throttle up and DO NOT TORPEDO! LOL
