Dayum that crazy. once you get tension pneumothorax or hemothorax (collapsed lung from air or blood) you don't got much time. gotta get them to a surgeon within an hour you can only needle decompression effectively so much as medic to buy time for that.

Yeah. He was lucky his legs still worked, I was not a dick and the operator listened to me I guess. It was a perfect storm for him.

I’ve just done San dam and drive up hills. Haven’t done technical trails there yet. The north side has more canyons and rutted routes

If you cross sand finger and head toward the pavement road along the power line every single left is pretty nice mild to wild. There is a really cool one about mid way from the camp to sand damn that starts by going into a bowl. It gets tight and its crawler status. It has one pretty good rock face that was some effort for my bike to get up. There was a truck blocking it when I went down. You either need a map, a gofer or patience. Some trails end with nowhere to go or really extreme. Merc is 50/50 back there. In the sand dunes there is a cave (army crawl not walk in) and next to the cave is some badass little short runs. Good place to have a bunch of people hang out and watch. My stock 5lugger made it back there but barely. Few way to get there. Any 4wd or well equipped 2wd with a locker can get to it to watch.

I was thinking about heading out to pop my cherry in my stock 4runner trail. How does it usually work out? Lots of trucks, people break up into groups and head out. Trying to decide if I should have a plan or just hook up with a group that's doing a rout my 4runner can handle and follow along?

This is right around that cave by the dunes. On one side you have this and the other is a long sand valley. super2.jpg super1.jpg super.jpg

Usually everyone is on their own schedule. Super is so different in terrain you usually match up with someone or people that not only have your same ability but desire. Then you guys do your thing. Basically find someone once you get there that wants to drive like you drive and roll out.

FYI i will have my 2 young kids and I never use 4wd (manual hubs and i am lazy). I can show you around. I always end up with the stockish, newish people. It doesn't bother me. I know my way around enough to be an OK tour guide. My profile pic is a stock 5 lug I used to take around super. I know a lot or 'easy' ways.
