Yeah it was brutal. My insurance covered mine. Funny thing is my mechanic was parked directly next to me and his tonneau did NOT dent or dimple. No body damage to vehicles as well. Got lucky.

Dressed up the tailgate by adding the black letters for Tacoma. I spent the most time removing the backing tape. Waiting for the TRD Pro grill. It has cleared customs. I also ordered black badging from Amazon. 618D0A1C-EBA9-4B0A-A85E-90DEB72FA1E9.jpgDD76BB12-6BC4-4FC7-A520-66449E7FABDB.jpg

Plastidipped 'Tacoma' on the doors black and removed the rear V6 emblem because there was no point to it.

Seconded. Absolutely the first mod that should be undertaken. I was lucky to take possession of my truck before it hit the lot (got it 4 hours off the truck).

I'm surprised it never occurred to Toyota that it needed filled in, but I'm glad they didn't because @rrentrop and others provide such great options.

thats a real clean install i used the bracket that came with the kit to mount my relays then just mounted my ballasts to the core support with one bolt. been a year and no troubles except both my bulbs went out at the same time. Lucky i had the stock bulbs in the glove box. i live just south of atl and took tem to retro fit source and thats where they found out both bulbs were bad. replaced them at no cost nice job

I tell them to get rid of those stickers before I ever drive it off the lot. If they give me grief I start negotiating a paid endorsement contract outside of the truck purchase.

I think it has everything to do with cost cutting. By stamping it directly into the panel they don't need to manufacture and apply an emblem. Considering the number of trucks they will produce over the next 10 years that is a significant savings. If they were to add letters at the factory that would defeat the purpose of the stamping.

Love that shifter. I think I'd make my own scales out of buckeye or amboyna burl though.

I couldn't agree more. Although, you will notice excess noise around the windows. Can't say if there's a true loss in mpg, since winter fuel is the worst.

It's a little louder than I anticipated, and the TRD one is a little quieter than I'd like. And yes there is some drone that will bother most people. Doesn't bother me because I bump my music loud and it doesn't bother me. Now I'm trying to decide on which suspension route to go....

Had the day off today.......gonna fire up the grill in while and do some pizzas.

Figured I'd ensure that thirsty work was taken care of.....broke out the Chemical Guys gear and washed my dirty truck....road salt and crud build up all over it.

Working through the weekend but have Monday & Tuesday off.

Planning on spending some more time with it, then.....wash & wax while smoking a brisket, some ribs, sausage and maybe a pork shoulder. My version of multitasking. Gonna be mighty thirsty work.

MBRP Cat Back Exhaust after a Wash and Wax. Sounds good and the Chrome tip meshes well with MGM and some chrome accents. Would rather have a blacked out one with a different color taco.

Simple little adjustable LED pod light for bed deck rails. I purchased two of the cheapest pods I could find with the best rating on Amazon since I probably won’t use it too often and it’s not going to be getting wet or anything. Everything else was purchased on amazon as well.

    $20
Bed Rail Cleat T Slot Nuts For Toyota, (4 Pack)! (Some to use later) 3/8-16 threads.

    $13
Northpole Light [2 Pack] 18W CREE Flood LED Pods. (One extra for when the first cheap on catches fire, haha)

    $8
    (1) Ram Mount Composite Short Double Socket Arm for 1-Inch Ball Bases

    $8
    (1) Ram Mount 1/4-Inch-20 Female Threaded Hex Hole with 1-Inch Ball

    $8
    (1) Ram Mount 1-Inch Ball Connected to A 3/8-Inch 16 Threaded Post
You’ll have to disassemble the light on one side to side in the 1/4-20 bolt if you want to go this route.

I didn’t know what size the nut was that was in the light prior to purchasing and couldn’t find any information on it. There is actually a 5/16 nut in the light when you get it so if you can find a ram ball with a 5/16 threaded post on it you’ll be good unless the threads are too long and bottom out into the light before it’s tight.

(Fuse holder, switch and wiring I already had)
Haven’t tested the light at night yet. I’ll post a pic after dark!
