Nice, Hazard is a fun climb! I'll be heading over to the central coast this weekend and hitting the SLO trails. :)

Has the winter weather killed all/most of the poison oak around Montana de Oro?

OX Platinum was a big selling point for me. Got an '04 Unit made of the same stuff:

Winter doesn’t kill poison oak. It just makes it harder to see when the leaves are gone! Seriously, the worst PO I’ve gotten has always been in winter when you don’t see it, and the bare vines seem worse than the leaves. Anyway, the trails we rode ... Hazard, Boundary, Barranca, Oats, Beebe plus the stuff on campus seemed pretty clear. But we both scrubbed down well after riding.

Thanks for the info regarding PO. The last time I rode those trails Oats had a lot of PO. A riding buddy brings Dawn dish washing soap and a weed sprayer full of water for scrubbing down when we get back to the trucks... works pretty good.

I’m not sure but maybe the local club CCMB had recently brushed (cut back) the trails. It seemed wider than I recall, in a good way.

That is good to know, last time PO was so thick in some sections you could not avoid contact. I'm not sure what trails are on the agenda, but we'll get a short ride in on friday afternoon, saturday is the big ride day then do another shorter ride on sunday before we head back to central valley.

Chain reaction has a few Nukeproof Scouts at a decent price. Pinkbike has some good ones as well.

That's pretty sweet. I ride a Niner Sir9--853 Reynolds. Had a Karate Monkey before. This is so much lighter and lively. My favorite bike by far.

My Unit is by far my favorite bike, but I'm a little too fat for it at present. It's a serious ass kicking every time I take it out. SS used to be second nature before kids...

Sorry for the large picture. Glad I went with the Long Bed. I used to have a 2005 Rocky Mountain RMX R3. But I sold it after I snapped my wrist.

I think it is amazing how far bike tech has gone since '05. That RMX looks like it is retro as hell, then you look at a modern day Unno or SC V10 and it looks space age.

crazy thing is, if you took the RMx and just put it in current geometry, it would rip!

Also, just a PSA if you do have an indoor trainer and want to practice stuff other than pedaling with it, it is great for practicing balancing points for manuals!

I've seen people practice by putting the back wheel in a bike rack as well. Just make sure it is a tight fit, or you will end up on the pavement, and your back wheel will have a 90 degree bend in it.

Try out the latest SC Chameleon, it quickly became one of my favorite bikes. I plan to up the fork travel soon for an even more slack rig.

I also got the CK headset pressed into my fixed gear project, just waiting on the rims I ordered to get back in stock to build my first set of wheels.

And I bought this boss hog the other week. Probably not going to be as big a project as my Grom, but some changes will be made.
