My dad had a DCSB was cool, but the cab looked to big and bed looked to short for my taste. He liked it though hauling around the family and tossing stuff in the bed. We/I took it on many camping trips.
I got an access cab since it looked more proportionate in my eyes. I don't haul people around just girlfriend or the dog or both lol. I wanted a 6ft bed was doing part time in construction when I bought it. I knew I was going to long travel it too.
For the DCLB if I needed one I'd probably get a Tundra.
Regular cab I couldn't do I keep to much crap in my truck.
    Just my 2 cents :crapstorm:
You have to look at your priories and buy the type of truck needed.

the counter argument to that is going full size is really only needed if you plan to haul a larger trailer with regularity

DCLB is big, well...long, but still manageable. I just did a road trip up to vancouver BC and could park anywhere surface or underground. To be fair, this is my first vehicle with a back-up camera and that makes a WORLD of difference.

At any rate, easy truck to move around the city

And my counter to that would be, with all that length why not just get the bigger engine, better mpg, more towing capacity, comfort, bigger bed of a bigger truck. I came from a bigger truck, the narrower width is nice, but if I wanted a 4 door truck, I'd go F-150

dont need the towing capacity, interior room, or bed space

throw in toyota reliability and resale, its an easy choice

thats really what i think toyota hits on the nail with the tacoma. "Just enough truck"

I got the DCLB without even thinking about the others really. It just makes the most sense for me/us (the fam). The double cab is great and the back really has plenty of room for adult size folks. The long bed was also a no brainer for me as I wanted the max amount of space. It doesn't really seem long to me at all driving it. It is long when I look at it but it has good lines. I was driving a full size Dodge work van before this so the Tacoma seems compact really. To me it's an awesome alternative to the full size trucks. It really does 90% of what a full size would do for me plus it's a Tacoma so it's cool!
I appreciate all the models though, not saying DCLB is the best, whatever works for everyone is great. We all have great trucks is the cool thing.

My dad is going to be buying a new SUV soon, and we spent last Sunday browsing the local dealerships. He has his heart set on a leftover 2017 Ford Expedition Limited (at about $11K below MSRP and 0% financing, I can't say I blame him), but I talked him into checking out the Chevy and Toyota dealers too. Thompson Toyota was the last stop of the evening, and we were just about to leave when I spotted the back fender of this '06 RC sticking out from the row of used vehicles...

Aside from being 4 years older than my truck and thus not having side airbags, traction control, or a factory AUX input (and having that pointless black and red accent stripe), this truck is virtually identical to mine! It's the same color (Silver Streak Mica) and the same drivetrain configuration (2.7L, 4-speed auto, 5-lug). It even has a rear slider.

Unlike the 2002 RC 4x4 I found at this same dealership, this '06 has A/C!

As a total gearhead with both Asperger's Syndrome and borderline OCD, air-conditioning in a newer daily-driven vehicle is a big deal for me. I would never buy a vehicle with no A/C as a daily driver!

This truck is being sold AS-IS/NO WARRANTY, but let me tell you...

It's cold in the Philly burbs right now. If I bought this truck as my primary source of transportation or even as a work vehicle, and I turned on the A/C on the first warm day of the year and it didn't work, I'd bring it right back to the dealer and expect a free A/C recharge at a bare minimum. Just last summer, I had to get the A/C in my Tacoma recharged after almost 8 years of trouble-free service when it started acting weird (will explain later), and I got it pressure-tested to check for leaks. The total came to almost $165, but tests showed the system to be freak of leaks, and my A/C is now blowing 38°F at the vents, so I can't complain!

Anyway, back to this nice little 2nd Gen...

As you can see, the body is in good shape. The previous owner added chrome covers to the factory wheels, which actually don't look half bad in my opinion...

The black grille and some of the other black trim is a bit faded though...

    IMG_4467.jpg

Looking at this truck, I saw a blank canvas, just waiting to be customized and modified...

Hopefully someone buys this as a first vehicle for their teenager, and they discover Tacoma World!

    IMG_4466.jpg

Just over 121K miles on the clock, which is about average for a 2006 vehicle in 2018...

    IMG_4468.jpg IMG_4469.jpg

Originally almost $8K, with a grand taken off the asking price...

    What do you think?

    IMG_4470.jpg

It is not particularly noticeable in this picture, but there is a dent in lower rear corner of the right rear fender. There is also a dent on the top right section of the tailgate...

I would've killed to get a truck like that as my first ride, all I was able to save up for my first car was 1k :(
    I love the regular cabs.

In 2012, I came across a somewhat beat up and rusty, but well-maintained 1994 Chevy S-10 Blazer with ICE COLD A/C, working 4-wheel drive, and 130K on the clock. $600 OBO! I'd have bought it in a heartbeat if I didn't have my Tacoma!

I'd pay about $2500 tops for that. It's all what it's worth to you though.

KBB on my 2010 RC 5-lug is about $10K, and that's with the rims, upgraded stereo, navigation, and backup camera...

My truck has 80K on it...

I'd say this '06 is worth like $4K...?

KBB Private Party Value is $5,113-$6,586.

    Trade-in is $3,603-$4,704.

If I could confirm that it had never been in an accident, that there was no frame rust, and that the A/C worked, I'd pay $4,500 or so...

Check out the truck first with a fine tooth comb, then maybe offer them $4500 in a take it or leave it ,its 12 years old with dents and basically the cheapest Tacoma made.

So it's basically gonna drive like a new truck!

$6,000 sounds like a good price!

I'm OCD and regularly pressure-washed the underside of my truck...

Brought it in under recall last October expecting a new frame, and was a little disappointed when I found out my frame was in good enough shape that it passed PA state inspection and only qualified for plugs and a rustproof spray...
