I wouldn't have any interest in a 2.7l with an automatic. Would have to be a manual.

I drive a 2.7L automatic because my dad gave it to me, so that doesn't count...:D

If this truck gets totaled or something, first thing I'd do different is get a 4x4, and if it was a 2.7L it'd totally have a third pedal!

One of my coworkers is presently driving a '96 Ford Ranger 2.3L/auto with 90K miles, no A/C, heat that doesn't work, and a tape deck that barely works...

I told her about this Taco and she might be interested!

Dealers only sell vehicles "as is" for a reason. They know something you don't know.

Or it could be that it's a 11-year old truck with over 120K miles...

My friend, who owns the bar where I work, is good friends with the owner of the dealer selling this truck, so I'd probably be able to get a full history on the truck...

That could prove interesting. Remember, even though it's being sold "As Is," they're still asking top buck for it. Hmmm.

Funny thing about most Toyota products - especially Tacomas. No matter what's wrong with them, they still command top dollar.

One of my coworkers is driving a base model 1996 Ford Ranger regular cab short bed 2WD with the 2.3L and automatic tranny. The truck has about 90K on the clock, it DOES NOT have A/C, the heat is broken, and the stereo system consists of an older Pioneer tape deck that barely works, along with the factory speakers...

I showed her this very Tacoma and she damn near fell in love with it!

Their might be two silver streak mica RC 5-lugs in the parking lot at work very soon!

To be fair it had its frame replaced, that may be where they are getting their numbers from here. I would throw 3k at them and throw a 4.7 into it with some long travel.

Someone put a 5.7L in a Tacoma back in 2010-2011...

It was a SEMA show truck, and my one grievance about it was that they removed the A/C system!

Do you know if the 4.7L swap truck has operational A/C?
