I do totally agree that there will be no changes of significance on the Tacoma Pro. Not their M.O. Never has been.

I really hope they upgrade the headlights. My wife picked me up from work and we went out to dinner a little while back, her car has factory LED headlights. We got in my parking lot I got in my truck and started driving home. I pulled over in a parking lot thinking there was something wrong with my headlights. To my surprise headlights and fogs were working just fine... They just don't put out anything near the light the current technology has. Why does the Rav4 and Corolla for that matter get LED'S, but the Tacoma doesn't. Makes zero sense.

U ever heard of the TRD supercharger that was on previous models?

To those that think Toyota doesn’t have to compete, maybe u can argue for the Tacoma but in reality other models such as the Tundra have suffered. Look it up.

I’ll also say this in the past 2-3 years Toyota has aired many Tacoma commercial and offered APR incentives to boost sales. All companies have to compete. Eventually complacency takes it toll on businesses who don’t adapt.

Major changes? Maybe not, but overall the product has to evolve to stay on top. Reliability is great, but not every person buys based on that and the newest models haven’t proven to b long term staples yet but I’m driving the hell out of mine!!!! Good points though y’all!

    P.S. Tundra needs a locker!!!!

I will agree that the Tundra is grossly out of date and miles behind the competition but for the sake of this conversation, I'll keep it at the mid size market. As far as Tacomas go, the supercharger on the 4.0 2nd gen was never a "factory" option but rather a dealer add on item, even though it was for that period of time produced by TRD. That said, TRD selling their patent to Magnusson is indicative of the direction they are going and that's away from building superchargers.

I have NEVER seen any APR incentives for the Tacoma or 4Runner, literally never once seen a single incentive, they've never had to, those models fly off the lots and essentially sell themselves.

Definitely some good points for sure and I think it can be unanimously agreed upon that the Tundra needs a major refresh. They are so far behind.

You guys realize that any changes that are made to the existing Tacoma now.... were designed and scheduled to take place now back in 2014-2015 right? Seriously. A company can't just read the paper one day, see the competition is heating up and go "Hmmm, I think we will make a change today and ship it by the 15th of next month!" Design, engineering and manufacturing does not work that way. This is not a gas station down on the corner that can install you a new muffler. Minimum of two to four years from concept (even a facelift) to production.

The pro tacoma probably wont get anything new. The 4 runner pro needs the most improvements of them all

I couldn’t believe that they offered low APR either. In Sept or October timeframe they had special rates, but apparently after talking to my finance manager she said it was for 36 mos. I guess that was the catch. But they for sure offered incentives. That lead me to believe that they really wanted to bump up theor sales especially on outgoing 17’s. The commercials with the Tacoma’s that were on frequently I thought was interesting as well since I don’t remember ever seeing them on a regular basis with the 2nd gens. Have a good one bro.

Oh and one more thing I noticed also was the increased availability of manual trucks. That’s y I had such a hard time finding a manual 2nd gen Off-road when I bought my 2nd gen. They r sticking it to Chevy with their now all autos. Go Toyota!!!!

Yeah that's definitely news to me, but I bought my truck a year ago with a very great "bro" deal so I guess that was my incentive. Shopping for a 4runner now too and haven't seen anything, guess I better kick my guy in the shin for not sending me the memo.

I don't really watch TV so I can't comment on the commercials... But I agree, never really saw much for the 2nd gens.

Say what you want about Toyota, but at least they do their own thing with the Trucks. The TRD pro trucks don't look like anything else on the road. They are great looking and unique. Plus, they have an actual championship racing heritage behind them. The Tacoma and Tundra have actually won at Baja.

I like the Midnight Titan and the Trial Boss 2019 chevy and they look great, but they take so much from the F150. It almost ridiculous in how much they have copied ford.

That being said, if there is no powertrain updates to the Pro line-up, I don't think I will care much about them.

I agree with the other company’s trying to use what sells. Ford has obviously been selling well.

I guess what I am trying to say as far as making the Pro more powerful (not that they will), but if u look at say just about any model of vehicle... let’s just use the Subaru STI for instance... when u buy an STI (flagship model) u get the fastest and best overall performance in the highest model. For trucks it may not always b the most powerful... But what the Raptor lacks in being a super powerhouse it gains in capability. Most companies have a super great model that they put most of their poker chips on because they know they will sell like hot cakes. Hopefully I am making sense lol. But if Toyota has a flagship truck it better b worth the extra $ or I will just do like I did this time and b happy with my off-road. If the Pro has a supercharger I may have wanted it. I can do most of the changes on the Pro on my own truck, but it’s still not a Pro. But just as capable for my tastes. I just want the best bang for my buck.

I hope no one hates the Pros. I just know for me I need more for that price tag. :kona: I paid 32,500 for my 17 OR. I’m happy as a clam and never looked back. Do enjoy my pro grille though!!!

I mean the suspension is great on the Pro. My local dealer wanted $50k for a pro. It was fully loaded but still $50K?

There are plenty of Lexus engines they could throw in those cars for that price.

You realize you're talking about a company that released a mass production Turbo Mid-engine sports car? AND had super charger kit for the Avalon?

If there are even any changes to the tacoma, it would have to be something cosmetic i would think since the picture is taken from far away and says to look close. My guess would be lights, possibly tires.

For all we know it could just be addition of the tundra and 4runner and tacoma are unchanged.

I'm confused - why is it being assumed it has to do with the Pro's?

Where does that say, or even hint at it having anything to do with the Pro's? How do we even know it's referring to the three vehicles pictured, and not completely new vehicles being added?

I agree. Looking at 4runners now for a DD and have a hard time accepting how technology deficient they are compared to my Tacoma, and even it is lacking by industry standards. I mean, just simple shit like smart key.. it's 2018.... But, 4runners are awesome so I guess it just is what it is.. I am hoping to see a significant update in 2019, but who really
Pro has never been worth the money, to me anyway bc I knew I could build a trd or better and with more options. For some who don't plan to change anything, then yeah, might be worth the money. Toyota's specialty models really primarily come down to superficial cosmetic things in my eyes. But that model has worked exceptionally well for them. Pros sell immediately and for a lot of money. It'd be nice if they had an option for more power, but this is Toyota we are talking about.

That depends on what one means by "enhancement". It is very likely there will be a hybrid Taco in the near future, and to me, that would certainly be an enhancement.

The folks expecting some beast engine put in, yeah, that ain't likely to ever happen.
