Has anyone used a USB hard drive (non solid state) with a media player in their taco? Were vibrations from driving a problem? I have a 1tb drive I want to use but am wondering if it would kill it with all the bouncing around.

Have another one? I think I'm ready to take the plunge. This thing annoys me too much.

This is nice because it could be hooked up directly to the battery via fuse and stored away in the glove box or velcroed somewhere. Will this work with the Amazon firestick? Also how to go from this to rca?

Has anyone used the glovebox to store the AV switcher, or is that so obvious a question?

Also while doing this I’m wondering about hooking up the rear ( and new front ) camera to an av recorder like this one:
    https://www.ebay.com/ulk/itm/142441400564

I’m waiting on my truck so this is all theory, but I’m guessing for the rear there is a proprietary 2 wire rca connector going into the entune unit that would have to be spliced into a regular rca cable that can then be routed to the recorder?

My cable arrived today. Fast shipping ! Thank you.
Good quality materials, clean build and an straight forward assembly.

I wish the switch and toggle cables were another 18" or so longer because when I routed them down the hole to the right as shown in the video I come up short after threading them behind the console to the drivers side. I never looked while I was in there.

I will take the dash apart again tomorrow and see if there is another path to the driver's side.

I wanted this primarily to be able to enter addresses into NAV on the fly.
For this it works but it is a two step process on my system, or so it seems today, my first day running the mod.

I flip the switch one way to trick the head into thinking we aren't moving and this allows me to enter my destination while on the move. However it freezes my screen at the spot I flipped the switch. No matter how far I drive, the map shows me still at the spot I entered my data and at a dead stop.

I have to flip the toggle back and the system then wakes up and updates itself showing me where I am on the screen and navigates to the address I entered.

All in all a good hit, I haven't taken advantage of all the other tricks this mod is supposed to do but I do have a switch for the camera en route. The only place on my dash it can go at this point is to the left of the steering wheel.

Don't flip the switch back. Leave it in override permanently. After a 15min drive, the navi will start to update. After that, it will work immediately on start up.

    No problem.

The two times that I turned override off, it seemed to take longer to start updating when driving on the freeway versus curvier back roads.

It might need some turns to calibrate?
