    ORIGINAL POST HERE

    The title is pretty self-explanatory.

My Uncle Jeff, who owned THIS BEAUTY, had a black 2002 S-Runner that he special ordered and drove daily from 2002 until he sold it in 2007. My dad was bugging me to get my license and would have been all too happy to get me a used Tacoma as my first vehicle, but I was lazy and not quite ready to drive yet. My uncle sold the S-Runner in 2007, and I got my learner's permit in 2009, at which point my dad bought me the 2010 RC that I still have.

Anyway, did anybody have (or do they still own) a 1995-2004 Taco that they special ordered?

It's less Tacoma and more mod
Damn, would have been impressive if I did either, both of my trucks have been the same age as me....

Bought mine off the dealers lot, but had to wait 2 weeks for a white regular cab with a v6 to arrive
So didn't get to pick my options
Was luck to just be able to find a v6 RC back then in stock

My truck is actually from the Fremont Toyota dealership, didn't have to travel very far from NUMMI. Think it was something like a 5 minute 3 mile drive? You can almost see the factory from the dealership.

Truck is as old as me, my dad was the one who bought it brand new from the lot - or at least his company did. He had the opportunity to choose what Toyota vehicle and all the options he wanted. My truck was registered as a fleet vehicle from 1998-2016 up until I acquired it when his company sold off the fleet. As a result it wasn't driven very much, when I got it last year it only had 75,000 miles. I put about 15k on it since then.

It's funny, I give him shit for getting the PreRunner and the I4 but if he didn't I would've never had the opportunity to convert it to 4WD myself and do an engine swap in the near future. I asked him why he didn't just choose the 5 Lug 2WD, and he told me he liked the look of the 15" Alloy wheels on the PreRunner.

I completely agree the 5 Lug hubcaps are ugly as sin.

Too many trucks and mods to list.. check builds
I didnt buy the truck new (i was only 6 at the time lol.) But my father bought the truck brand new from a local dealer, they had it sitting on the lot and he decided he wanted the double cab, so he traded the 96 in that he had special ordered with the 3.4 5 speed regular cab... Really wish he would have kept the 96 but the 01 is just as amazing.

I procured my 2000 TRD extra cab through a buying service. Dealers could be too pushy. I didn't have deal with a sales manager who would upsell. Still a happy owner. Over 300k miles.
