What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

That looks really great! What did that cost you if you don’t mind me asking? I’d like to go from Black to Magnetic grey metallic or similar.

When you finally get it back, you should drive it straight to your garage and immediately start the 3.4 swap.

 

To give you an idea of what I'm experiencing here are two pictures. Both taken on flat ground. Normally in winter I get around 85 miles to each 1/4 tank hash mark.

1. Look at how shitty the mileage is compared to what I normally experience.

2. Look at how much the needle dropped after 3 miles.

 

Wow. Well glad the shop is a good shop and they are taking care of you. It's always good to see shops like that. Hopefully be the last hurdle.

 

Again. Cat could be plugged. Or fuel filter?

 

I changed the fuel filter maybe 1.5 or 2 years ago. Used a Wix one from the auto parts store. I don't experience any lack of power or other symptoms related with fuel delivery issues.

I guess I can start looking into cat replacement but I'd hate to throw that much money at it without knowing if it's going to solve anything.

 

Sure as hell hope so. They had excellent reviews on Yelp which is why I decided to bring it there - as opposed to other shops. Owner is an ASE Master Tech so he definitely knows what he's doing.

So I had the same problem. Drove to the same spot 3 weekends in a row all at the same time and weather. Left on weeked 4 same gear spot route, but a cold front moved in. Normally the needle would drop just below the top line when I reached camp. For some reason that weekend, it dropped to 5/8 of a tank. Thought I was screewed, woke up the next morning did a once over and said f it. Went wheeling and played for 2 days, the gas gauge never moved until it went to 1/4 when I was at my normal gauge to milage ratio.

My truck kinda did something like that at one point, swapped the plugs and wires and that seemed to improve it.

Do you really get 85 Milesish per quarter? Does the MT really help that much? I usually get around 60....

 

Sounds right with mine 20-22mpg.
