    OEM Bed Mat.
The canopy stinks from that nasty carpet that's back there right now.
Just waiting for when I get a spare 30 minutes to sweep it out and spray it down with some Simple Green to get rid of the waterlogged smell of whatever crap is back there

Finally put in my OEM bed mat, ordered through and a big thanks to @gunny1005

Obligatory before and afters are to follow:

    Nothing in there:

Even broke it in by taking him to the dog park and, way better than having the (nasty) carpet back there, for smell, looks and for the dog and hauling crap so it doesn’t slide around. I was surprised the bottom was textured with rubber bubbles (for lack of a better word)

Threw the kydex holster for the Glock 19 in the truck. I haven't test fitted the locations with the actual pistol due to time constraints this morning but I want somewhere that I can access easily when driving on FS roads or for longer road trips, but is somewhat out of eyesight and doesn't get in the way.
So far the only 2 locations are underneath the steering column or by the coin holder/tray/whatever it was purposed for next to the ignition

    Under the steering wheel:

Attached to the coin holder/hidden tray, thingy

Toyota bed mat from the dealer. It was a long bed and my wife had spilled paint all over the inside of the bed so I left it in there to hide it

Oh I see, yeah I'd do the same. Sold the idea to her because 1.) the carpet was getting nasty (which was true) but 2.) the dog rides in the back almost every day and it'd be more stable and comfortable for him (which I suppose is also true)

So I test fitted the 2 locations, the coin holder/hidden tray won't work because when you draw the handgun, the holster doesn't catch anything and comes out with it and I'm not willing to drill into that piece of the truck (for now anyway) without a spare part that I come across for free, or super cheap.
    Empty:

    Carrying:

The main issue I was running into was the weight of the handgun w/ magazine was pulling the holster away from the clip, since the clip only has 2 screws at the bottom and nothing to secure and control the weight closer to the edge of the top of the holster.

The curved edge on the end of the clip is what makes the next location (under the steering wheel column) work well:

What about the center console? Or you could mount the holster under the seat

Like I said, the curved end of the holster clip makes the holster stay put when drawing from under the steering wheel. Here is the handgun holstered under there, you can see without the clip being secured from the top and bottom, it hangs farther away than I'd like:

Here is what it'd look like with lower and upper support:

I have a center console vault, which is great for having valuables in the truck, I was thinking more of something I could stick in for longer road trips, cruising around FS roads or out in bum f$%@ nowhere

I do however like the idea of having it underneath the seat more than the center console, or coin holder.... it'd be a toss up between trying that out, and the steering wheel and then again weighing the pos/cons

If you had a way to do it you could also munt it to the trans tunnel down by your rt leg. It would be out of sight yet readily accessible

True, that would probably require cutting into the carpet and IIRC there isn't a whole lot to have it grasp onto under the carpet..

When I mounted the clip to hold the Mike/ CB I removed the center consloe and found a safe wire free area where i could drill through the carpet on the tunnel and into the steel. It's locked in solid and if I decide to move or remove the holes from the screws in the carpet will disappear

Hmm... I'll keep that in mind

I know my Dad has a holster mounted under his seat, next time I'm over at his house (which should be tomorrow) then I'll check it out... it's a 1st Gen, but in theory it's pretty much the same concept
