Is the toggle switch plain metal toggle switch, or is it like the rocker switches that match the current switches.
On another note, cable guy lives 1 mile from me, and he is dropping mine off in person on Saturday.

It is the metal switch that you see in the pics.

It can be swapped if you'd like. Mine is hidden like I posted a couple pages back. So, the appearance is not a problem.

Yep, it's just a plain metal toggle. You can see it in my first picture (top).
It's on the solo cable end to the right at about the 2 o'clock position wrapped
    in red shrink wrap.

Have fun with "The Man" himself Saturday, love to hear his ideas and what else he has planned. Cable Guy has a good mind !

After this afternoons outing, I was thinking that mounting the toggle under the steering wheel looked like the way to go.

I am encouraged after reading your suggestion of riding around for 15 minutes or so.
If that works and I can leave the switch in the "on" position always, I will just tuck it under the carpet
    somewhere and forget it !

Yep! You can definitely find a spot where you can forget about it. With the override on, all frustrations just float out the window.

Do you notice that this entune system shows you a little bit behind where you really are anyway ?

I've run Garmin for the last dozen years of so and they are always spot on.... :(

I honestly don't pay much attention to the Entune navi. I run Waze all the time and just glance at the head unit. I like the breadcrumb feature.

In general it is a bit studdery, but much faster and better than the best unit that was available on the Wife's Forester in 2014.

The other lockout features and trying to remember what was locked and what wasn't drove me up a wall and was very distracting.

Are you guys storing all the pieces in the glove compartment and routing the wires there?

No. I have the wiring either bundled and stored under the dash on the left side of the passenger foot well or routed to where I want it. I don't have any extra devices though. The front camera just plugs right in and works.

I posted some pics a few pages back in this thread.

I did see your posting. However I want to use iphone mirroring ( damn you Toyota on AirPlay! ), front camera, and if I’m on a beautiful, drive, have hooked up to the cameras already present to record into an avr, and leave a slot open to connect my firestick on that rare occasion for when I have long lines at the Canadian border to catch up on shows or whatever.

Ah! Considering the storage room that I see, esp with the two knee airbags, there isn't much in the cab other than the glove box. Depending on size and if you don't have push button start, there is some room in the area behind the 4wd selector. It is really easy to get to also. Just pop off the vents, work the right side of the panel under the steer wheel loose, and you can wiggle out the HVAC panel. I was able to wiggle it out and back in without even loosening the headunit.

Thanks! I’ll check that out. I do have the push button start unfortunately - I have trd off-road on order, not here yet ( but already ordered this assembly :) )

Thanks, I did see that thread and it was very helpful since that is posssibly one of the most confusing buttons possibly ever designed for an automobile. :)

I was searching for a service manual but didn’t find one and would definitely appreciate a pointer if you are able to dig that up.

Well, I did as you said and sure enough the map is now updating, BUT...........

The guy driving the little icon on the map and showing me where I am, failed to tell the woman who reads you the directions that we are moving again !

What I mean by that is that although leaving the toggle engaged now updates the map to where I am on the earth (kind of)
I have lost the Audible Route Guidance function.
She tells me that Route Guidance will begin as soon as I get to the Highlighted Route..... and I guess from her point of view I haven't moved. :(

So for now, looks like it's back to toggling back and forth, still better than not being able to use the NAV function while moving though.
I miss my Garmin.... but can't drop the coin right now at Crutchfield. :sadviolin:

Wow! That's crazy. The screen between the tach and speedo shows correct speed limits and street names for me while in override.

I will try the route guidance on my way home this afternoon and see what happens.

    Thanks Mahn...

When it is working I get that turn by turn screen in the center too. I like that.

Don't you think the option to have the Speed Limit icon should be possible and accessible on the first screen that shows your actual current speed ? Why toggle between 2 screens for the info while whimpering about distracted drivers ? Dummies. :goingcrazy:

Yeah. The info and navi layout could be better, esp with all the wasted space / large fonts.
