I'll swap out the TRD OR rims to push the tires out another inch or so. I need a little more clearance for the ABS wire - it gets pinched at full lock under full compression. (Un)fortunately for me I haven't been on a trail to fully flex it.

I had been thinking of stepping up to a 17" run so I could run bigger brakes now I definitely want to so I can run those 285/75r17's. I've got the clearance, might have to chop the cab mount but I don't mind.

Of course now I'm thinking about trimming the fenders and running 35's lol

I need to do this as well, just no one is providing any pics that I have found, just mentions it.

 

There are a bunch of videos on YouTube. It looks pretty easy, just take your time welding in the plate so you don't damage the body mounts... Or set them on fire

Edit: I'm pretty certain I saw a thread on here with step by step instructions. I'll see if I can find more about it when I get off work.

If I do end up going that route, I'll be happy to help out with yours after I use my truck as a guinea pig of course.

@hoverlover , guess this gives me another reason to play with he plasma cutter. Need to check to see if it can handle that thickness, other then that my air compressor will be the next weakest link.

@Texoma could have some pointers for you if you had questions. He did in it on Big Perm not too long ago.

 

I've done a few, different styles as well. Let me know if you do it yourself, I can give ya some tips. Or you can bring it out to my place and I'll melt ya some plates on.

 

Don't use a plasma cutter on the cab mount, that bushing will light on fire. Angle grinder works just fine.

I absolutely HATE CBTs! Having to deal with these damn things all week long, god forbid that the ARMY doesn't have all of its COMPUTER certs in!

 

@Texoma, got any tips for the welding portion? Do you run a bead and let it cool for a bit or what?
