Very nice ideas. For me, I was on a bit of a time crunch since my bed split open with the weight of my cap and rtt. Plus the cost of getting that done by a local shop would have bent me over, and it would have been more commercially influenced instead of offload/camping directed.

Really looking forward to what you come up with. The space you gain with the wheel wells and fenders out of the way is pretty sweet! Once I get my new cap ill be able to get all my gear in and out with no issues compared to before.

Totally understand I'm surprised my bed hasn't split open with everything I've put it through with the rtt on it. Ya I have a rough draft but not something I would publish lol the main thing is getting the fridge out of the cab and into a secure location that's out of the elements

Thats why I had the cap in the first place was for the fridge. So now I have to get one again. If it wasn't for the fridge and worry about people stealing, I would just run waterproof boxes. Oh well.

Sub'd to see what you come up with.

It’s still lower than 33’s with stock gears running 4th gear to just barely maintain the speed limit:anonymous:

Higher is a good thing in a 2.7 IMO, I am OK with tanking a few MPG. ECGS now offers a 5.29 gear set for the second gens. Do you think that is overkill, knowing how 35s drive on 4.88s in a 2.7?

Are you sure? It's not just the rear for a pre runner? Are they actually making a 5.29 for the clamshell?

I'll say this when I'm loaded as fuck for a trip I'm faster than a 22re 2nd gen pu with 5.29s and 35s and a 3.0 4runner with 33s but slower than a 1st gen basically stock 3.4 taco lol

The real problem right now is take-0ff. I am on 33s with 4.10s and I constantly have to slip the freekin clutch

With 4.88s on my truck I don't have that issue. Also 99% of the time when I leave the road and start a trail I'm 4lo anyways. Then only time I slip the clutch is on some more interesting rock obstacles but most of the time I just work the throttle

It's coming for me...for sure. After i get on 35s, it's time. I have even considered staying on 33s and adding a crawler.

Lol actually the misses pre approved the purchase of a rhd turbo diesel 80 series in that eventuality. Since neither her corolla or the Tacoma will have enough space. We also get twice the truck for maybe 1/4 the cost of a new 4runner. Which neither of us like the new ones... the plan is, wedding, house, dogs, land cruiser, kids lol see what I did there

Thanks they've been great I'll probably order another set in a year or so if these ones are worn out by then.
