It all depends on what youll use it for. I used to use the bed like a trunk, so I got the SB. Some people haul quads, dirt bikes, etc, and thus a long bed is more practical.

I like the shortbed for looks, longbed for functionality.

I have have a tool box with my long bed. If I had it in a short bed I think I would only be able to carry a gallon of milk.

 Oh nevermind I stand corrected. Can you shut the tailgate with 1 bike in sideways?

Na lol, it still sticks out a lil. Two 250's, 2 stands, one big gear bag, 2 pairs of boots, 2 helmets... all crammed in the SB. Yes, i'm awesome, I know.

But, my tailgate is bent so bad from my back tire lol.

    None Yet.
Hi guys i'm new to the board, but I have been looking into buying a tacoma, and seriously the short bed looks funky... well on a double cab.
but for functionality I would go for the long bed if you are a hauler and mover.

Long bed. The extra bit of space is useful and its probably no different on gas anyway

I have double cab long bed. I think short bed on DC looks strange as well as decreased hauling capacity. The only thing I don't like so much with the DC long bed is the longer wheel base. Just a bit of a pain in the ass sometimes. If I had to do it over.... I would get the same thing.

Do you want manual or automatic. If you want manual, you have to get short bed. If you want auto you have a choice. I wanted a long bed, but the manual tranny was more important to me. Sometimes i wish i would have gotten the long bed. Hauling bricks or 2x10's.

I did get a bed extender from harbor frieght that adds a little more than 3 feet to the bed (1.5' with tailgate down). It helps alot.

That made my decision difficult.. I still went long bed for the truck look and function... LB lifted FTMTF! :D

I left my tailgate down one time for three miles, now I have a daily reminder of what I dumb ass I was! My tailgate has this dent / scratch that sticks out like a sore thumb. If the item will not fit in my bed with the tailgate up, then I'm not using my truck to haul it.

You can't get a manual in a DC long bed?

Whenever an automotive manufacturer only offers an automatic transmission in a certain model, that’s one less model I need to consider when I’m purchasing my next vehicle. When I’m spending $30k, I should be able to freely choose if I want to own a manual or an automatic transmission in my own car / truck!

I have a TRD OR DC, which means I have a short bed. I wish I had the long bed.

to me, the only question is, do you NEED the long bed? if not, easy choice (not to mention the s/b looks so much better IMO).
