Maybe I missed it, but I could not find the answer. Anyone know if the factory glass cover is used over the ultimate dome light?

I know you said too bright is real, is too bright the correct term for the ultimate kit in clear?

I bought the ultimate combo in white and the smoked v1 map lights. Depending on which map light I like I’ll be selling the unused one for what I paid. Just a heads up to anyone that may be interested.

No I haven’t seen it recently!

But seriously, there are no specs on the LEDs I can see anywhere so I’m just guessing these will be awesome like the mirror turn signals. I have 24 LEDs in my dome light now and easily think I could deal with 50 that have the same output. But I’m not sure where this bad boy comes in so the only way to find out is to get buying.

Also, I will be picky if the tint doesn’t match the map light, or they are too blue so I don’t know that the V1 clear will be a good match.

So maybe red huh? But then same issue with tint. So maybe I need ultimate in red!

But I’d prefer white. Sooo buy em all!

Sorry, not trying to upset. Just saying it as a OMG, he has 30 full size pods on that thing! And you know from the other thread I am with you on the whole too bright thing. I know that you know your lighting characteristics. Sorry it came off as a Duh kinda statement. Not intended like that at all.

I never really asked but I thought the pics on the first page were updated to show the newer versions of the Ultimate map lights that come in the combo. I am probably wrong as most of the time that is the case. I surf this forum on so many devices and some switch on the blue light filters at night.

Yea, I bought the red dome today and have the version 1 red maps now. I plan on coming back and buying a red combo if that's all he offers later just because I too want them to match, and not so much the output tint color as the general design look of them. I tend to get a little Martha Stewart that way.

Sorry again for sounding like a DH.

The ultimate set is very close in Kelvins, which is why I combined them.(plus the map and dome cosmetically look like a set).
I don't know how they compare to your 24 Dome now, but having no lens and the LED exposed definitely helps the light get out.
Ones definition of bright may not be the same as anothers.

No I didn’t take it that way at all. No worries. Tint is super hard to show via a screen. I even have identical dual monitors on my desktop calibrated the same and they are slightly different to my eyes so WRT LEDs I always prefer to see them in person.

I’m a little picky too. @mesojdm knows this as I did a compative overview/review on another product he made. I have every possible amount of faith in him so I’m buyin’ to try. I’ll presume the ultimate map lights in red will match the current ultimate dome lights as red are easier to match than white.

Yes. I've been running all red for a week and they blend well.

Cool, glad, I am a bull in a china shop in all aspects of my life sometimes.

Yea, and i get what you mean. My posts of the version 1 red map lights with my S8+ camera were not very natural at all so I modified the pictures to reduce some of the harshness added by the cheap phone camera. it is doing what it is suppose to do in low light but that is not natural at all and very deceiving. In person the red version 1 maps are very functional without being overbearing. I wouldn't have anything else after trying them. Why I was dead set on the red dome. And honestly, since the lights in the back will only be used while I am searching back there while the truck is not in motion, it might be better if it is brighter than the fronts that I use while I am driving.

I tend to overthink things a lot though. :frusty:

This is exactly what I’m after. I overthink too.

I want a front that doesn’t destroy my night vision that I can use while driving or my wife can turn on while I’m driving to help the kids. Also I want to be able to get out of or in to the truck at night without having to stand there for 10 seconds waiting for my eyes to adjust lol.

But when I’m trying to find something on the floor at night I don’t want to have to get a flashlight out.

I keep work gear in the back as well I need to look through so the CRI of white appeals to me. So I grabbed that.

But I’m thinking with enough output red in both ends is fine, ultimate or standard up front is the only question.

    @mesojdm

How long do you think till we see ultimate map in red?
