And he seems proud of his aem intake and flowmaster exhaust but doesn't say what the lift is.

Nah. The swingout doesn't lend itself to using my truck like I do. I'm thinking a whole new fold down tailgate tire carrier. My pops is bringing my welder and band saw to Philly. Should be a cool little project for myself.

Like it'll function like a normal tailgate, yet house the tire on it? That'll be so heavy to open and close :muscleflexing:

Something similar to this would seem doable for a diy project

Yeah it could be heavy. I guess I COULD take the tire on and off it between trips. I could also do the same for the swingoutI assume. I don't know yet. Haven't put much thought into it yet. I just know I don't like the functionality of the swingout.

    is that a swingout?

ahh gotcha. Yeah I don't want swingout. Thanks for looking out.

So here's what I saw in the marketplace on TW. This particular one doesn't fold down. I was tempted to buy it, but I figured I could make one myself, which would be a lot more satisfying. I'm still kind of throwing it around though. Do I really need to waste my time making one? Will it be all that I am looking for? Blah blah blah.

with your work, wouldnt you want to haul longer things?? a non folding one wouldnt make sense. I would just get the @Mobtown Offroad skin reinforcement plate

Well yes. I have the tailgate cap from them already. I want the gate that i make to be able to fold down. You'll see. I think I'm gonna go for it.

For those real long things (16 foot long pieces of wood) i have a hitch mounted riser thing. I'll use that and then I plan on fabbing up some sort of bracket or attachement type thing that will slide over the horns of my backrack (headache rack) so that the materials don't sit on the roof. Unbelievably, the backrack cross member is not higher than the roof.

What about some sort of swingout quick disconnect? That way when you go wheeling, you can throw the swingout and tire on, but then take it off when you need to haul things.

Not sure yet. Definitely an option. There's also the fact that I like the look of the tire on the back of the truck all the time. It's absolutely vain, but still. I'll be weighing all options.

I really do too. I could have easily gotten away without a swingout because my current set up with the platform works great, but I think it looks damn cool and rugged.
