i have a maintenance required soon light that would turn on once in awhile for the past few days, but when I press on it, it doesn't tell me what is needed and disappears.

Is this supposed to happen when it first reminds you and stays on when maintenance is really needed? Or do I have a problem?

    Any info is appreciated!

    Thanks

If it's like the 2nd gen it just pops on every 5k miles from the time it was last reset. Just a reminder message

I got the car with 11k miles has 16k now, just wondering why the light doesn't stay on.

Bought my truck with 9,100 miles on it. They just changed the oil. I just hit 14,000miles. It just came on again. I think Toyota wants you to change it at 5,000. I just reset it. I’m changing mine at 10,000 with Mobil 1.
To reset just hold odometer in while pushing start button without pressing brake. I think you’ll see 3 or 4 dashes that blink and then disappear. Then you can let go...

It comes on at start up at about 4500 miles since last reset and will stay on at 5000 miles. Its just a reminder to get maintenance like rotations and oil changes but it can be reset at anytime and just start counting the miles over. This lines up with your current mileage. You don't NEED any services at 15k other than a tire rotation. Check the owners manual for maintenance schedule. If the check engine light isn't on, its not a problem.

5000 mile reminder is most likely for tire rotation, not oil.

It comes on every 5K since the last reset. Odd numbers is check fluids and tire rotation. Even numbers is same + oil and filter change.

There are maintenance recommendations every 5k miles with oil change being every 10k.

I'm about to bring my Taco in for it's 15K Service. Looked for my Wheel lock key to make sure it was available only to find out it's still in the SEALED plastic bag it came in. It's not been used and I brought to TACO in for the 5K and 10K Services! Do Dealers have a Universal Key of their own so mine isn't used? If not, my tires haven't been rotated since new and I'm pissed!
